Another manager who's not a knucklehead.
Don't get fleeced on Chapman.
Not signing Heyward opens up 28 million to play with.
Pick up a hot stopper before the deadline for not your top prospect.
A world series win that year? I think it's more possible than not.

I think one of Theo’s biggest blunders was always looking for the next Arrieta.

Eddie Butler, Brett Anderson, Trevor Cahill, Tyler Charwood, and I’m sure I missed a few reclamation project starters in there. (Didn’t Brian Matuez start a game for the Cubs?)

By taking on all of these reclamation starters and getting shit out of them it directly led to the Quintana trade, the Darvish signing, and the Hamels trade.

They were down 3-1 to Cleveland and won game 7 in extras, it’s not like there was a generous cushion for error when it came to giving up prospects to win in 2016.

Eloy/Cease for Quintana will go down as one of the worst trades in Chicago sports history.

The same amount that Theo has brought to the Cubs you clown.

What does Theo winning in Boston have to do with his tenure in Chicago? Its possible Kenny could go elsewhere and win another World Series. Not likely, but possible.

I am not going to get in a debate with you about Theo VS Kenny. No one thinks they are close to being equal.
Kenny Williams wasn't mentioned in this thread by anybody until you posted about him. Nobody said they were equal. You called everybody in this thread a clown- twice- and then posted your own dumbass clown thoughts. Take break from the board for the rest of the day, or stick a red hot iron on your face.

Brick brought Kenny up before you had interrupted another Cub thread. Why are you even posting here? You are the one who needs to get the Cubs out of your head. Take a break from Cub business for the winter at least. Stick to the Machado and Harper are coming to the White Sox threads.

Wrong again Joker. Bell/Sosa is #1 on that list.

We should probably wait until they play in the majors. It's going to be pretty hard surpassing the Sale trade. Giving up the most valuable player in baseball and getting crap and then watching him win a WS.

Eloy/Cease have not even played a game in the majors.

I can think of a dozen off the top of my head from the Cubs alone.

John Garland to the White Sox
J.Moyer to Seattle
Dontrelle Willis to FL
Nomar Garciaparra to the Cubs
Josh Donaldson to TOR
Lee Smith to BOS
Rafeal Palmeiro to TX
Bruce Sutter to SL
Dennis Eckersley to OAK
and off course Lou Brock to SL

So you see JBills, if you are saying Eloy/Cease will be future Hall Of Famers then...

I remember at the time all the reports said Detroit wanted Almora. It was hard to watch Verlander dominate that entire postseason on his way to a WS.

You know what was easy to watch? The 2016 World Series!

You all a bunch of clowns in this thread. :drunken: :eye:

Oh okay, because the Cubs won in 2016 as a fan I shouldn’t care about winning another one in the Championship window. I think the day the Cubs got eliminated Verlander threw a CG shutout. But hey 2016!

This is what I call the magic dong swing:

It's very hard to find the magic dong swing. The Cubs traded away a guy with the magic dong swing for a #4 starter with a friendly contract.

Well the Moyer deal was shitty but he didn’t go to Seattle, he went to Texas with a few other guys, one of them named Palmeiro.

Also you might want to reconsider the Sutter deal, traded him for the Bull who was a pretty nice first baseman for the better part of the 80’s.

That's too much, I would have given up Happ and Schwarber. Almora is going to be very good.

I believe one of the topics discussed during the world series final game rain delay players only meeting was we have to rise above our managers crazy moves.

I also thought Almora would be a very nice player. That said he regressed substantially in every way measurable on offense last year. If he was not cost controlled his performance last year was non roster invite worthy.

I remember everyone including myself bitched and complained on why Maddon didnt play Almora everyday.

Guess he knew why.

That's why he's coach and we're fans.

1)Darvish- Did Theo not catch the world series in 2017?
2)Jose Quintana-Just why? Maybe if the Cubs didnt have such a bad start in 2017, Theo doesnt make the trade?
3)Tyler Chatwood- Signed way too early in the market

Almora never got rewarded with more playing time when he was hot. Happ & Almora shared time no matter who was hotter. Almora was in the top 3 for batting average into mid June. If he had a 3 hit day he'd sit for the next 2 games consistently. Happ was regarded as his equal when Almora was hitting 100 points higher and playing stellar defense. He started getting more at bats pinch hitting (35) before his average started declining. Of all the 2018 roster he was shit on the most by crazy Joe. Joe has been a huge detriment to Almoras progress. When players do excel Joe takes credit for where and when he uses them, implying he's rescuing players from certain failure with his baseball brilliant moves.

They got exactly what they wanted in Quintana. A reliable pitcher that will give them innings and doesn't cost much. He is the perfect number 3 pitcher.
