I just need some clarification here. Cubs fans are stupid for expecting Theo should have a World Series contender within 5 years. But Cubs fans are also stupid for no longer expecting the Cubs to be World Series contenders within that 5 year window.

So they're are stupid no matter what. Yes, it's only year 3 but we can determine a conclusion on Theo just like we can conclude on June 6th who are serious contenders. Excellent.

There is a part of being a Sox fan that is dependant on thinking they know more about baseball and are better fans than Cub fans. They cant function without it. Just let them be.

 RFDC (and you) said to show you ONE person who said that, and the first two quotes I posted have a "realistic" prediction of a division title then an NLCS appearance within the first 5 years. And the second quote ends with saying the Cubs can win a division title next year (which was 2013) and that they will be in "a position to compete for years to come after that."

So there ya go. Give Cubs fans proof and they still want more. Why not put the heat on your ballclub instead of Sox fans?

I stand by that statement. With the expanded WC, they should be making the playoffs every year.

Yes, they should. That's a good goal but probably unrealistic. You know that.

But dont let that stop Frank from saying you predicted it would happen.
There is no reason whatsoever that Theo could not have put a team on the field this year that would win ~85 games which could get you into that play in WC. Money or not, his big league club should be better than it is right now. At this point they should be competing at least for the WC.

All I correctly pointed out was that there are/were at LOT of Cubs fans who think like Seacrest and Bernsteen.

Uh, no, they don't. None of those quotes prove that either. Expecting contention within 5 years upon Theo's hiring isn't outlandish pie-in-the-sky adoration. Rozner and Bernstein have blind faith in Theo and have given him a blank check and infinite years to work. But it is hard to be objective when wearing these:

So do a lot of Cubs fans.

Or at least they did. Some of the smarter ones are starting to come around though.

You made a ridiculous statement "Cub fans said Theo would be in the playoffs 4 out of 5 years"

It was so uniquely ridiculous that I said find ONE person who said it. Instead you found some positive thoughts on Theo. NONE of them said anything close to playoffs 4 out of 5 years. Not one of them.

BC's prediction has them in the playoffs for the first time in 2014
Darkside had the first playoff appearance in 2014
867 5309 had it in 13
Hank has them making the playoffs 3 times in 9 years.

Dont hate me. You made the statement. If your original statement was "Cub fans liked the Theo hire" I wouldnt have said anythiing

Well, there you have it

Sox fans pretty much admitting they dont deal in reality.

In Sox land saying "We might make the playoffs in year 4" = "we are going to be in the World Series 4 out of 5 years"

That kinda says it all on Cub Sox CSFMB relations

Enjoy the celebration Sox nation!

Let's try this again, RPB. You seem to be getting upset and are taking this quite personally. Let's revisit the original post that enabled me to go back and find the quotes I did.
RFDC wrote:

Part of that is ownership, but part of it is the front office too.

Share with all of us one person who has said anythign even close to this
RFDC then asked for proof, so I provided you with some. Per his directions, I looked for anything that was "even close" to that. Let me also say I went back and looked for the first "theo" thread I could find around the time he was hired. I am sure there are many, many more quotes to be had but the burden of proof is no longer on me so I'm not bothering to look anymore.

These quotes are from Oct/Nov 2011 so Darkside and Nas have had them in the playoffs already. Whoops.

RPB, I'm sorry you disagree with the FACT that a lot (again I say, not all) Cubs fans had and still have blind faith in Theo.

Can you find one quote that predicts even TWO World Series appearances (much less 4?!!?)?

Ok, Frank. People thinking Epstein might make the playoffs more than once in 9 years means that they thought he was going to 4 World Series in his first 5 years.

That is not in question and I never denied it. I said they didnt take it to insane levels like Bernstein and Rozner.

And you understand that is reference to the Red Sox, correct?

So the expectation of implementing "a plan that has proven success of winning multiple World Series" was not winning multiple World Series?

I had/have faith in Theo. I wouldnt call it blind faith though, I think he has stubbed his toe occasionally and I think that Ricketts has cut his legs out from under him as well.

He was the GM of a team that built itself into a year in/year out contender. If a fan cant have faith that a player/coach/GM can replicate success then why should we ever get excited or hopeful about any drafts, FA signings or hirings?

Come on.

No one ever said that. Not one person on this planet said that ever.
