This guy is hot as hell. It's confidence. He's hitting good pitchers pitches in the streak.

I usually don't call for banning ppl but Crystal, sorry pal, you need to serve at least a week.

update - actually i take it back. Did some research and thought Crystal was a Sox fan. But he's a Cubs fan it seems. We don't ban our own kind.

Its great to watch and I want the guy to succeed. The only thing is that once it gets warmer and pitchers can throw their breaking stuff, is he going to regress to what he was? I really hope not.

You can't really count Dunston's two ASG appearances as much of anything, given that Steve Swisher had one because somebody had to go.

Javy is really locked in.

You can tell he's seeing the ball really well.

He's keeping his head in and not opening up the front shoulder, which is why he is able to go opposite field so well and is making solid contact so often. He could very well be an MVP candidate if he can maintain this approach.

All this said, my OP still stands. I don't know why pitchers would ever throw him a strike. Again, let's see what happens when the weather warms and these pitchers start relying on their breaking stuff again.

That’s what makes some Cubs fans insufferable. Instead of being happy Javy has finally started to make the necessary adjustments you have to go to the extreme. He’s seeing the ball well, laying off balls low and away, keeping the shoulder in, and accepting that you’re not less of a player if you hit it to right field. The sample size is small but it’s a positive that he’s attempting this change in mentality.

Every fan base has these fans. Kind of like proclaiming this is the year of Giolitto's CY Young run

He is already there, right next to Gordon Beckham

Ty Griffin in 88, Cunningham in 89. Whoosh. Lance Dickson in 90 at least got a cup of coffee but man.. m going to stop there as I don’t need a reminder of how poorly the cubs drafted.

i wouldn't worry. baez's high are great but his lows are equally "great". nothing steady about his offense.

Now we're comparing guys who had a cup of coffee in the big leagues to ten year veterans?

Javy says goodbye to the rest of the leagues hitters, as he leads the league with 23 RBI! Phenomenal defense, baserunning and now his hitting has improved to a level he had not reached previously, due to a lack of plate discipline. he is the most exciting player in the league today. His enthusiasm for the game is infectious. Glad the Cubs were not as stupid as some board members who suggested he be traded. He is a cornerstone.

Sure he has. But to get the very best of Javy, he should be at SS and Russell (who has a weaker arm) should be moved to 2B.. Russell is going to have more issues with his shoulder. You can see how he strains to make some throws and playing 2nd would allow him to make shorter, easier throws and make him less likely to have more shoulder problems.

No, he has not.

He played SS yesterday and had another error. He has a .937 FLD% in the middle infield this season. He is good defensively, normally. But he hasn't been yet this season.

He should be there every game. Just as Almora should be in CF every game. the 2 most important positions on the field.

Man, I really hate to agree with Steve, but he is right about Javy's defense. It has been great as usual. Also fielding % is a horrible metric.

Which one of your 10 bobbles this season is your favorite?
