didn't the league and players union have trouble with ARod when he tried to similarly opt out?

The players union would go ape shit. But Heyward has the option out, so everything would be proper. The Cubs would simply giving him a nice 'gift'

If the Cubs owe him $100M, why would he agree to take a $30M buyout? Yes, he could sign with another team, but I assume a drug test would come with that decision.

If he thought he could even get 75 percent of the 100 million the Cubs owe him from another team, you add the 30 million to that and he is actually ahead by 5 million.

Heyward was good this year. His contract is bad, but if he puts these numbers every year, I can deal with it.

Bryant, Contreras and LF have to be better. Bryant was hurt, so he’s excused. But he still needs to be better with RISP.

It's not a hard cap so they can spend whatever they like but they were right up against that cap last year if I remember correctly.

I said nothing racist. Maywood is a shithole, so are many other towns that I similarly would not be interested in cultivating business in. The North Shore is where the majority of my business is done and why I relocated there . How is it racist not to want to do business in a shitty town?

I think the difference is that I'd start going there if they re-did some of the roads like North Ave and Lake and revitalized the area with strong new businesses opening up. You'd Wikipedia the Black % and say "still not good enough."
