Here's all I'll say. If I accept everything Cub fans said about Maddon when he was hired, there is ZERO doubt the Cubs will be downgrading at manager when he leaves. And if the stuff you said when he was hired isn't true, why not just shut the fuck up when it comes to managers?

I'd say there is a 60% chance they down grade, Maddon got alot out of this crew. Most successful decade in Cubs history. I trust Epstein to hire a competent replacement and learn from his mistakes.

Lemaheiu, Lastella, Darvish, Heyward, Jackson, Descalso, Morrow, Quintana, Arrietta, Schwarber, Happ, Verlander, Machado etc

That's a lot of learning

Great managers get it done in four games like real men.

Under Maddon the club has done real well in the second half, if he doesn't get this team hot quickly..fire his ass by late August.

What is the mistake regarding Machado?

Should have signed him, put him at 3rd and KB in left and trade Schwarber.

Machado has been disappointing for the Padres.

Maybe I'm blind but he's at his career averages, which are pretty good.

Yeah, most guys press too much the first year of a multi year deal and he'll end up with 35-40 homers, 115 ish rbi.. 275 BA and .350 obp in the best pitchers park in Mlb.

I'd gladly take that

Stop yourself. Maddon's move in that series were just awful. Like I said in an earlier post, I would have cheered if he was fired in the middle of game 7.

I agree he seemed to let the pressure exceed the pleasure of being in the World Series but he still got them their and won despite his questionable moves.

I rather have them win it with a manager who made a couple bad moves then lose it with a manager that did everything correctly. Just can't justify the firing of the first Cubs manager in over a century who wins consistently. His overall success should be the ultimate factor in his value as a manager.

He runs bullpens into the ground. Most managers do. Counsell was just the latest large profile of this practice.

But you're all bitching that person is vastly overpaid and sucks, and yet Machado is making $10M more per season.

Put Heyward in the 3 spot like Machado is and give him an actual leadoff hitter and you'll see comparable RBI as well.

Teams in first place at the break. They’re not firing him.

Terry Francona made it to the World Series because he "ran his bullpen into the ground." Allen and Miller are shit because of it. Yet MANY would say he out managed Maddon in 2016. That is not a reason to fire him.

because starters barely last 6 innings anymore, everyone's going to run bullpens into the ground eventually.

I've seen Heyward all over the lineup, he was never a run producer. I've never seen him go deep in Petco or Sean Fran either.

Shortstop is far more vital than Right Field. Try comparing apples to apples, IMU.

Agree wholeheartedly. Maddon's not the first nor will he be the last. Bullpens are baseball's version of "sweatshops"

312 nails it. Heyward rarely produces let alone in a particular park.
