Batting leadoff is probably best for Soriano. I'm sure Lou is hoping that move will prevent the Cubs from gettting swept in their first series of the season.

It's early, but no one in this town wants to see this team in the cellar. Two games back after two games played is NOT the end of the world.

The Cubs need to get it together this April or this season will be a repeat of last. Milwaukee is good, but not that good. Havent had a chance to watch the rest of the division yet, but on paper this is the Cubs division. If their offense sucks all April and they start 20-24 again or somewhere in that range the race for the division could go down to October again.

FF, please help me better understand why this is true.

Well Im guessing you are referring to the Reds. I dont like anyone outside their rotation except Harang, and hes not dominant, just a solid #1. Their best guys are very injury prone and #1-8 they arent as good as the Cubs. I dont like Wood as a closer but if he can be I would say the Cubs have the better bullpen, if hes not then its close. And you guys have Dusty, so that takes away like 8 wins right there... and good luck developing any young arms you have.

Unless of course you like Wins, Strikeouts and Innings pitched.

We'll see man, theres a reason everyone and their mother picked the Cubs to win the division. I would rather see the Reds, or more preferably the Cardinals. I hope your Reds do good, I just dont see a playoff run.

The Cubs blow. Their OBP sucks, they strike out too much, they can't pitch, they can't hit, they can't hold runners on and they are sloppy as hell in the field. Just more of the same. This fucking team sucks ass.

The same had them making the playoffs last season. Not every NL team can be the best team in the NL.

Farvefan, meet Mr. Reason. Reason, Farvefan.

What you need to understand, FF, is that every team sucks. Even playoff bound ones. Mr Reason is a grouch and, frankly, if you had to live in Urbana, you would be too. I think he still hates Ron Zook even after last year. And as a Cub fan, he's preconditioned to pessimism. He's happy that way, so don't try to change it.

I really hope you arent a Cubs fan if anything short of a World Series title is a failure in your eyes.

I am a Cub fan. I am used to failure. Thank you for your concern though, it warms my heart.

the cubs dont blow, they arent horrible, they arent doomed to a lousy season now. they havent even made it through the rotation 1 time. i am pretty sure they have what it takes to overcome this mind-blowing 2-game losing streak. although it may be tough, now that cincinnati has erupted to a staggering 1-1 start.

the way he can draw walks, i wouldnt eliminate the possibility of fukudome being popped into the leadoff position at some point. i know he has valuable power and rbi potential, but he is the only guy that can consistently take a walk and get on base.

soriano is going to bat leadoff, i know, he is COMFORTABLE there. fukudome has to get in that number 2 hole before the sluggers.

After the game yesterday, it is pretty clear that Ned Yost has figured out a superior offensive attack to the one Lou Piniella brought to the field. Cubs have a weak .194 batting avg..

Sure, the Cub's have a better pitching rotation but it goes to show; if a club brings a batting order that's working, the runs will come.

Now here we go again. Lou is changing the line-up? After 2 games? Can it be so? Ned Yost is better managing his ball club than Lou? I can't believe this - but, the season has just begun.

Dempster (2-7) vs Bush (12-10) today. Let's get one game out of this series!

I dont know much about this Bush character but you cant have alot of confidence going in with Dempster against a decent Brew lineup.

Bush sucks. Soriano has been terrible so far this year, and hes up with bases loaded 2 outs and Bush walks him on 4 straight balls. What a bum.

What a blown opportunity.
Bases loaded no outs and only one run? Not good.

Dempster's start should be encouraging to Cub fans.

Dempster is pitching a good game though.
So far better than I thought.

He has nice stuff today and to see Soriano actually take ball 4 was a shock. Dempster has nice breaking stuff today and his fastball is even tailing a bit.
