I'll take a split. Four games off the schedule and no ground lost. Works for me.

I'm telling you, Soriano is leaping higher on fly balls. He's evenually gonna advance it to clicking his heals.

I don't know how MLB coaches on the Cubs allow that. I mean, it's too late now, but he just switched to the outfield a couple of years ago. No coach had the stones to tell him to cut that shit out? I guess not. It started with the Washington coaches.

The Cubs beat the fat man, or at least a game he started. And I can't believe Torres will be available tomorrow, so another positive.

That was a long game. 3.5 hours for a 9 inning game.

I heard Stone spewing some nonsense this morning about how Harden pitches great but may not help them as much because he hasn't been going late into games and the weaker pitchers in the bullpen are then giving it up.

Someone tell Stone that Marmol blew the 5 run lead and that's about as good as the Cubs have and it was a F'n 5 run lead. And the Cubs scored a grand total of 2 runs his last 2 games. Not "pitching to contact" enough.

I then heard Holmes say the same thing "pitching to contact" and turned it off. I thought I might have heard Bernstein talking about it too. So, it must have been on the Score talking points memo today.

I liked Stoney a lot more when I only heard him on gameday. Now that I have had a few years of the "real" Stone, I deem him a pudwhack.

Yeah, Doc. I think Stone and Larry are outthinking themselves. What's better? The guy who goes 7 innings giving up 5 runs or the guy who goes 6 innings giving up 1 run?

I'm no Steve Stone but I'll take the 6 inning/1 run guy.

It would be one thing if they lost the last two games because Marshall and Cotts are blowing the lead that Harden gave them but they lost because they didn't get him any runs. And when they did get him runs, Marmol blew it.

So, what the Hell is their point? I'm with you Beardown. Give me the guy that's unhittable for 6, sometimes 7 innings and the 5.2 runs the Cubs average and I'll take my chances.

no way. win game one of a 4-game series to your main rival, and you are ok with a split? that would be a disappointment now that the cc game is in the books. anything short of 3-1 in this series now is a disappointment.

marmol looked like his old self, but you know they are all going up there looking slider 100% of the time now. what i liked was the first pitch to the 2nd batter, after he sat there watching 95 mile an hour heaters one after the other, marmol drops a nasty slider right through for strike one. that felt like the old marmol.

reed johnson without a doubt made the most critical play of the game with that awesome slide into 2nd to break up that DP. that may very well have saved the game for the cubs right there.

one last thing - chad gaudin. quietly, this guy looks like he knows what he is doing out there. he seems very intimidating, and he also seems to be a strike-thrower. samardzija has looked good in his 2 appearances, but gaudin may just be the guy to slide into howrys role as he continues to struggle. i am starting to feel pretty good when gaudin comes in. i still cant believe the cubs got him thrown in on that trade for all the scrap metal we threw back at them. i know it is soon to say who got the best of that trade, i am just enjoying the 2 guys we got back in return.

With this team's record on the road, I would take a slit of all the remaining road games. Wouldn't you?
Everything else you wrote is just a bunch of meaningless sheepshit. Talk to me tomorrow when they suck.

what a wonderful display. lee is back, soriano is back, the lineup is back in its old routine again. here comes the big run we have all been waiting for. ted lilly looked fine tonight, another workmanlike start, not flashy, but it keeps the cubs in the game.

this series will likely be a sweep id say, now that the mighty cc has been vanquished, and their 100-year-old closer threw about 50 pitches tonight. the spirit of the brewers is now broken, and it should be clear sailing from here on out.

what a beautiful night, a magical night where it feels like all is well in the world, and the balance of order in the central division has been restored. fear not...

relax. relax. relax.

I want to be the first to state that I love relax and PANIC. It's the little touches too, like the all-caps for PANIC and no caps for relax. Brilliant.

if you are ever satisfied with going 2-2 in a 4-game set after you win game one, when you have Z, dempster and harden lined up, you are officially a retard.

Have you actually watched this team this year or are you just talking out of your ass?
I'll go with the latter, as you must be a clueless fuck.
They have been bad on the road and it would not surprise me if they lose 2 of the next three. How has Demp been on the road so far this year, huh? They lost two of three to a bad Houston team and Z pitched one of those losses.
Let me be happy with a split and leave me the fuck alone, you weird bastard.
I would be happy if you had even "fewer opinions" and shared them even less often.

I don't care how many years it's been since we've won a World Series but this "woe is us, we're going to lose" shit during every game is played out. Turn off the TV if you're so sure we're going to lose. I'm not meatball enough to think "bad vibes" from a message board effect anything, but the inevitable pity parties are just too much. Marmol Sucks, Lee Sucks, Howry Sucks, Fukudome sucks, the bullpen sucks, the hitting sucks, the starting pitching sucks, Lou sucks. You'd think the Cubs would have the worst record in the league reading some of the comments here and yet they have the best record in the NL. I'm not calling for irrational optimism, but for fuck's sake, this a good team.

seriously, awesome win for the Cubs - in a clutch ball game.
Make NO mistake about it, these games against the Brew Crew are nothing short of significant importance. The Cubs in the past would find a way to fall apart in these games. Marmol is certainly looking to be regaining his old form.

Jeff Samardzija tomorrow anyone?

it was absolutely HUGE to take the 3 CG streak away from Sabathia, and actually hand him a no decision and actually win a game that he started. I truly do think that this could go a long way towards "breaking the spirit" of the Brewers. The Cubs historically do well against Sheets, although this year he's looked much better against them with a 2-0 record. Go get 'em tomorrow Big Z!

Switch drinky for retard and you've got it. Reason likes his single malts at night and gets less prone to... editing, shall we say, his thoughts. It's pretty funny stuff and definitely not to be taken seriously.
