Okay, but at the risk of Boilermaking this discussion, I'll say one last thing. Thurgood may be a goof, but his point was pretty simple and not ridiculous at all. All he was trying to say- and I know it was difficult to hear him with bernstein heavy sighing, overtalking, and finally caterwauling over him- is that Rose knows how he feels and no doctor can know that and when to come back should ultimately be Rose's decision. That's hardly an outlandish position.

What I heard bernstein saying was that Rose should be a good little black boy and do exactly what the Really Smart Jewish doctors and their Really Smart Jewish boss, Jerry Reisndorf tell him to without question. Now, you can call that "imaginary radio" if you want, but if you listen everyday- and I know you've been off somewhere on a Revolution for awhile- you know that this fits exactly within the larger context of the show and bernstein's standard narrative.

Not sure if anyone caught the game on TV, but Baez looked spectacular. 2 HR's today, 3 HR's on 3 pitches including the GW yesterday and the last HR today was a fucking vicious line drive that went way out.

Plus he looked good at SS. Hard not to get excited about this guy and I can see why all the comparisons with Sheffield after seeing how he attacks the ball.

Impressive as fuck.

And Soler looks like he has ML star potential for sure as well seeing him in the same game.

Actual real prospects who are living up to the hype, albeit only in Spring Training, but still good to see!

Home runs on three consecutive pitches is impressive

He also grounded out to 2nd and had a bad throw to first on a double play.

My guy Adam Rosales from none other than Chicago dominated that game. I got to meet him long before he was ever considered MLB 25 man roster talent and he couldn't have been more humble and nicer of a guy. Cubs fan too!!!!

It is. Another Sunday and another Gordon Whittenmeyer feature on him.

Viciedo had six RBI's in one game. That is a second year pro, who hit 25 HR and played really good defense...and Sox fans were looking to move him this winter. You know how many fucks I have given about spring training exploits of my own team? Every player who has a roster spot assured is working on something with their appearances which leaves about 10% of the population that is playing these games straight. They say to not trust September numbers. March numbers are about as trustworthy as watered down September numbers. Arizona Fall League are probably more indicative because at least everyone there is giving full effort and how much stock do you put in those?

He may end up being good. He is deserving of being a A player right now with two more seasons minimum before he sees MLB. There is lots of proving to be done which makes all this excitement seem rather foolish.

With 2 swings against Bruce Chen, Baez knocked in more runs than the White Sox scored against him in either September game they faced him in last season. Guy looks like the real deal.

Nope. 5 > 2

Just stop with the Sox hate. It's unnecessary.

so, who do I have to look forward to watching at Kane County besides Trey Martin? Are Tim Saunders or Vogelbach coming back down?

Vogelbach should be there, Dunston Jr should be too but idk if he is a real prospect. Saunders depends on where they put Baez as he will probably be 1 level below him. Saunders can play OF, 3b and 2b though but I think he has shown enough to be more than a utility guy in the minors. I think they will give him his on spot.

Saunders is going to Daytona. Hopefully Baez is going to TN.

I think they want him out of his element, away from his friends and out of Florida for good. Saunders isn't a nobody anymore. He went to quite a few big league games this spring, he was in Houston the last 2 days I believe with the big club, so unless he has changed positions I can't see him and Baez being in the same place.

I think Baez and Soler to TN. Vogelbach and Saunders to Daytona. Saunders will be playing 2B.

Marlins designated 3B Zack Cox for assignment.

Cox was a 1st rounder in 2010 and turns 24 next month. He would be a nice pickup for either side of town.

First, I remember when this guy only fell to that pick in the draft because teams were worried he wouldn't sign. Being cut by the f'ing Marlins three years later is quite a fall from grace. I agree with you Keyser. It would be foolish if one of our teams doesn't take a flyer.

Why was he cut? He wasn't that bad in AA and AAA last year for a guy that young. Something must be up with him off the field.

Exactly. I forgot that with my post. Looking at his numbers, especially with the Marlins, it doesn't make sense. Honestly, I might take Zack Cox on crack as opposed to Ian Stewart.

Now that I look at it more he is a typical Cardinals trade bait pick....just like Brett Wallace was. Bad body, good, polished college hitter that can tear up the lower minor league levels immediately and then be flipped to another team. I am guessing that he is a butcher in the field and in worse shape that 5'11 225. Probably 5'10 240.
