If he get real hot and faces some shitty sept call ups he might have a shot at the NL hr crown. I think the recently deceased Stanton has 37 and Rizzo has 31 now.

7 seems near impossible given the likely terrible hitting weather in the 9 remaining home games...and then 3 in Milwaukee, with at least some of those 3 games maybe being very important for Milwaukee.

Abreu has 575 PA while Rizzo has 572. So basically an even number of games between the two from which production can be compared, should be fun!

Abreu: .323/.384/.602*/.986*, OPS+ 174*, ISO .279 wOBA .420*, wRC+ 170*, 35 2B, 2 3B, 35 HR, 102 RBI, 76 RS, 5.4 WAR

Rizzo: .280/.376/.520/.896, OPS+ 145, ISO .241, wOBA .389, wRC+ 148, 23 2B, 1 3B, 31 HR, 72 RBI, 82 RS, 4.4 WAR

Asterisk denotes MLB lead in that particular stat. I will also, as a bonus, give you all the difference between the two in every one of the stats listed! Aren't I swell?

Avg- Abreu +.43
OBP- Abreu +.08
Slug- Abreu +.82

wRC+- Abreu +22

Wow, for all those extra walks and fewer K's Rizzo has really kicked the shit out of poor Abreu in statistics like batting average, slugging, OPS, OBP. But I'm with you, those ones really don't matter. Who cares if Abreu is like 20% (conservatively) more productive in creating runs than Rizzo? Rizzo costs less and plays marginally better defense at the least important defensive position on the diamomd!

I want to know what went through your head when you said "Wait, there are other statistics that favor Rizzo, and your first choice was a difference of two stolen bases" by two first baseman.

The Rizzo / Abreu battle finished right on the marginal difference / noticeable difference separator.

Suck it, Stoney!

Stoneys comment was regarding a "FAR BETTER CAREER"......and his comments were never really intended to be a compliment to Abreu, it was his insult to Rizzo based on that 1 at ab in spiring training....and for that reason alone Stone was wrong, but it's the simple fact he came on the air with his long time axe to grind with his ex GF, The Cubs.

I think he can be the 25 HR producer you wanted him to be during his twenties.

It took a massive improvement from Rizzo for there even to be any doubt about Stone's comment being right.

So far, Stone is looking pretty smart here. I guess we can wait 10 years to see.

Time to give this baby a BUMP...

I do not see Jose being FAR superior.... in fact it's about a dead heat.

2015 YTD

Jose .255/.300/.553 5R 3HR 7RBI 0SB 2BB 9K .3WAR
Rizzo .282/.463/.385 8R 1HR 5RBI 3SB 9BB 7K .4WAR

They might, until Ventura decides it's not worth getting off his ass to hand in the lineup card.

gotta love Stoney's trollin' but I'm sure he knows predicting baseball things is folly.

Fucking Rizzo looks as good at the plate against lefties as any lefty I recall ever seeing. Abreu is gonna have to hit 40+ bombs to make up for his other shortcomings in comparison.

what are the other shortcomings for the guy who was top ten in just about every hitting category last year?

It is incredibly amusing that with all the Cubs have going for them that some still are driven crazy by the fact that the White Sox have a better first baseman.
