All of these additions crammed in to the majestic old park. Is it really "better"?

I was skeptical, but I like the changes so far.

Went to Wrigley for the first time in roughly 20 years last weekend. Was looking forward to seeing what I assumed would be an entirely new experience.

It was...but for all the wrong reasons.

We entered the park during top of the 2nd. Had been drinking at Beer on Clark with our group and lost track of time. Looking back, this was probably the root cause to what ended up being a less-than-stellar viewing experience.

After standing in line for the bathroom, food, and beer, we did not get to our seats until the bottom of the 6th. They were playing the Rangers and the game was moving along swiftly, but wading through the sea of fans still took longer than anticipated.

The volume of people around the park, however, was even worse. Layers of fans surrounded every "attraction" (statues, vendors, etc) and the overflow of people from the nearby bars was annoying. Long story short, I was not impressed at all and felt I haven't been missing anything.

Well it is one of Illinois' largest attractions, so you're always going to get the gawkers. But the alternative is to go to a place where very few people are attending. The large crowds is a big part of the experience. Sure Cub fans are generally annoying, but they're fun bad.

This is exactly why the White Sox play games. Go where no one attends. The whole park is yours for the taking.
