Cubs in 4 if they win both at home. Giants win the series if they do not. No faith in Arrieta game 3.

Giants are hot right now and the better team.

Giants in four but I wouldn't surprised if they sweep.

You know the Cubs watched this game tonight. They know that Game 3 is a loss so that's extra pressure.

2008 all over again.

Fuck me. The Cubs cannot hit Bumgarner or Cueto. Not good.

Arrieta throws a no hitter in Game 3.

He loves those away ballparks.

Three things going for the CUB:
1. That Mets lineup suuuuuuuuuucks. Woof
2. Cueto and Shark are as mentally soft as they come
3. FOCUS

If the Cubs don't get to Cueto or Bumgarner early this is not good... At all.

The best thing about the Giants winning is we do not have to hear Keyser go on about the Grandy man can.

Soler and Coghlin get some clutch hits and Cubs win big in all 3 games.

I will be sweating every out and hoping for the best. Having said that, this organization will break through sooner or later and win it all and they will not be a flash in the pan - at least for the next 5+ years...

so you're trying reverse psychology to jinx the jinx, eh? can't blame you cuz honestly i think this is the worst matchup the cubs could face in the whole of the playoffs (giants in a 5 game series, let alone that it's an even #'d year and you know what the giants do in even #'d years in the 2010s =/ )

the good news = if the cubs can win/survive this i think they're going to get some kind of a boost that should carry them to/through the world series. the real "curse" is on getting to the world series, so short of some kind of world class bed-shitting (read: "cubbie occurrence" =) or some other team getting otherworldly hot and simply "manifesting destiny" on the cubs, they're going to win because they're the best team in baseball. i think if they can make it through this then they're going to have a clear and obvious advantage in any other playoff series simply because they're the better team. again: the cubs are the best team in baseball. the only thing working against them here is the 5 game series because if the giants can compress their pitching to maximize bumgarner+cueto in a short series the cubs might not have enough time to utilize their superior depth and take them out [just like MLB designed the 5-game-DS to do: give the underdog a proper chance]

of course, all of this is academic if the cubs seriously just go out and hit. get 3-4+ ER off of cueto/samooredzja/country-blumpkin (bummy) and you'll win. if it comes down to pitching matchups then i fear for the cubs in a 5 game series against the #1 rotation-in-the-playoffs-that-is-not-the-cubs (read: if samardzija and matt moore are "on" then the giants are right there with the cubs for the best playoff rotation IMO. the mets would be #1 if they had syndergaard, degrom, matz, harvey/bartolo/wheeler/g$ellman/lugo/etc.... or if they made the playoffs for that matter >=)

even if the cubs lose to the giants they're still the better team. however MLB keeps these 5 game DS series around probably to "shake things up" and give the underdogs a better chance to quickly rise up and catch a sleeping giant right out of the gate, mainly so they can continue to claim that "the wild card is super important!!" and therefore "you'd better be 2011-white-sox-style-ALL-IN when your team is in the wild card hunt!" aka "YOU HAVE TO GIVE OUR BROADCAST PARTNERS RATINGS YOU FUCKTARDS!!! STOP WATCHING FOOTBALL GODDAMMIT!!!"

TLDR = cubs in 5. #ItsGonnaHappen cuz #WhyNotUs? #WeAreGood because we #TryNotToSuck which means we #Respect90 and #SomethingSomethingBuyYourBoozeAtBinnysAsshole! --- indeed if i predict with my head i'm going to say the giants, but since #ThisIsOurYear aka #CubpacalypseNow and we're on the verge of a Donald Trump Presidency (lol not really, but just go with me here) and that means the end of the world.... seriously, what's more "end of the world" than a Cubs championship? CUBS IN 5.

Cubs will have to win the first two because Bumgarner on an autumn night in the cold, thick San Francisco air is an automatic win and the same can probably be said for whoever goes in the fourth game.

Prediction: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDGsh-Hrxho

You're right. I should have just typed 50 different variations of phrases containing the word FOCUS.
