I don't think it's completely insane to speculate that, given the very odd timing of sending Kyle away from the team (possibly on the day, or eve, of winning a World Series berth) and given the offensive woes here and there, they might ... minuscule, small, wee chance might ... put him on the WS roster. I'm not saying I'd agree with it. Just seems very odd that they wouldn't wait a day or two, or a week or two, to jettison him from the clubhouse.

Given the team's occasional offensive woes, he might look very nice as a DH.

Otherwise, it just seems cruel ... unless he had this overriding need to get away from the potential celebration b/c he wasn't really part of the team this year.

Who knows.

Wow. They're actually considering putting him on the roster for the World Series to DH. No other reason to do it. I mean I'm sure Kyle would like to watch the game tonight but he's playing in his own game.

I don't know if they play every day in that league, but if they do he could get in 12-15 at bats before the WS begins on Tuesday. Not to mention lots of batting practice before the games. Is that enough to get him ready?

Why not. He's a future AL DH anyway.

The Cubs should have some of their farm pitchers throw to him before these Arizona games. A batting practice coach throwing 70mph won't help him. He needs to see live pitching from real pitchers. He needs to see some curves and sliders. And the game at bats won't be enough.

The way I read it, he'll get one game, tonight. He's only eligible to play twice a week. Next game is Wednesday.

I don't think he makes the roster for WS Game 1. I do think that somebody gets an injury and he makes the roster for WS Game 6.

Cubs just tweeted that they DFA'd lefty Giovanni Soto to make room for Kyle on the 40-man roster.

Per The Score's David Schuster - He just talked to Theo and he confirmed that Kyle is a month ahead of where they thought his rehab would be at this time. Theo says if the Cubs are still alive next week - Schwarber is indeed a possibility to play.
