The Cubs told everyone who would listen The Plan. The whole franchise would rebuild: baseball ops, Wrigley, minor leagues, major leagues. Just like an old-growth forest....you have to burn it down for the new flora to sprout. They told you they would rebuild the right way. Now after three years:

Exceptional Baseball Ops ✓
Improved Wrigley Field Experience ✓
Wrigley Field Rocking!!! ✓
Excellent Minor League Talent ✓
Magnificent Major League Team ✓

Management laid out what the Cubs would be. Sure enough they accomplished their goal and now the Cubs are the envy of 29 other MLB teams. The electricity in Wrigley with a team that was built the right way is incredible.

The next 15 years are going to be great. We got a juggernaut on our hands.

That's great.

Where is the World Series victory?

Or is that not part of "THE PLAN?"

Duh, this year. Haven't you been watching the Cubs this year? This team is destined for World Series glory. When you build the right way the right outcomes occur.

It did, but you missed reason #1 why it worked.

5 straight years of major losing seasons with high draft picks and sell offs.

I'm officially changing my stance. I want every single professional team I root for to be horrible for a period of 5 years besides the Blackhawks because they are actually championship caliber. I think I'll live until then so I can handle the long drought of horrible that seems to be required to win in sports now.

Don't cry too hard when the Cubs fall short of the second Wild Card. You've been waiting 'til next year your entire life. One more won't hurt.

I remember the last time that some Cubs fans thought their team was "destined" to go to the World Series. They had the best record in the NL and won the division. Then they proceeded to walk the Dodgers around the bases, kick the ball around the infield, and in three short games the dream was over.

Still clinging to your ZERO chance of the Cubs and Sox making the playoffs this year...at least you were half right..... #WinNow

Once again,I'm in full agreement with the White Sox fans on this subject. I'm pleased with the success in year FUCKING 6 of the Ricketts regime but I can't forget the pain of sitting and watching putrid baseball for 5 FUCKING years to get to this!!!!

This guy gets it.

The plan worked, so far.

If it delivers a title, then it is officially a success. The more pain required, the more reward required.

I agree... I don't think you need to suck to become great, Trout was like 20th player taken..he'd be the best guy on our team. The Cardinals didn't have to blow n that's who ya want to be...But the plan has worked.. They have drafted very well.

I'm happy Theo met your expectations of battling for the last spot in the playoffs in order to play a one game playoff on the road

OK,hold on! Right now the Cubs have MLB's 4th best record. Let's make this point, even if the Cubs leap in front of the Bucs they still have to play the WC single game.

Also, is the "Wrigley Field Experience" improved. It seemed no better than before in the games I have attended. The signage is as obnoxious as predicted with the subtlety of a sledgehammer. The fan experience could have been equaled with a board half the size of what appears in left and nothing in right.

No, jimmy, I'm exactly the same. What's different is the Cubs were purposely awful for several seasons and now that they may sneak into the postseason many Cub fans are chirping like multiple championships in the next few years are fait accompli. IT'S GONNA HAPPEN. You just get upset when I point out that it probably won't. Come on, jimmy. We've both seen this show before. We know how it ends. Wait 'til next year.

Please show me one person who has 'chriped' that multiple championships are destined.

They have the 4th best record in baseball and are very likely making the playoffs, so I'm not sure what your definition of 'sneak' is. As we've seen time and time again, just make the playoffs and it's anyone's game.

The goal is not to win championships. A championship is a certain and quantifiable goal. Theo has always been careful not to tie himself to actual benchmarks for fear of criticism.

The goal is to be competitive enough to not get Theo fired.

How do we know the plan is working...because its working...even though it is working in a way completely different than the plan laid out.
