I have no doubt he will be the Cubs manager, probably soon.

I expect he takes next year off, though. Theo will keep his Personal Services Contract right under Kerry Wood's.

That HR was unbelievable, though.

I'm hoping someone works with Contreras about calming the fuck down behind the plate next spring and working on blocking pitches better.

You know, I hadn't seen him catch very much, but after this postseason I can understand why Arrieta doesn't like throwing to him. Still, Arrieta pitched very well with him behind the plate.

Agreed, badrouge. He needs to tone it down.

Hopefully he doesn't do what Ross did in the 5th.

I think he will eventually be a manager, but his kids are pretty little. I see him being on MLB Network or Baseball Tonight two days a week the next two years on a 2-day a week gig (so one overnight), having a Manny Ramirez type role with the team (e.g. show up and work one on one with some guys when they need an intervention), and doing some local radio for 670.

If he gets the bug after 2018, I expect him to become Maddon's bench coach for a year and then take over when Joe retires.

The more I think about Ross, the more I think that he epitomizes why many of us love baseball.

- mid-round draft pick
- lunch bucket guy who understands his role enough to make $20M in salary over his career. Sounds like a lot, but Heyward made $18M just in 2016.
- has a couple of useful skills both offensively (power against LHP) and defensively (arm, game calling)
- has "intangibles" mostly because he seems to be a genuinely nice guy

His career OPS is pretty much the same as Starlin Castro (less hits, more walks, a little more power). But he's viewed completely differently, because he's not a flake. In fact, he's the anti-flake.

As much as baseball is about the stars, it is the role players who glue the game together.

David Ross is truly a hero. I only now can fully understand why he was brought on board. Hearing the audio during the game of him talking to the players...the home run to take back some momentum after the two runs scored on a wild pitch... the rain delay meeting with him and Heyward talking to the troops.

Ross is a great leader. After hearing about Heyward speech I hate him a little less today. He earned his salary.

You have always admired people who charge inflated prices for speeches that are not accessible to the public

That was good. Maybe yesterday's Cubs win was the motivation dolphin needed to be good at posting again. #MDGA #2016

I remember when the Cubs first got Ross to catch for Lester, and there was a lot of talk about how ridiculous it was that Lester needed a particular catcher, and how Ross was kinda old. Now I see why Lester wanted him. I hope he does go into coaching/managing at some point, I think he will be missed in the clubhouse next season.

He was also really damn good this year. Miggy was horrible for almost the entire season. Rossy did some serious work for only playing here and there. I'm sure there are starting catchers with a few hundred ab's more than him that didn't produce as much offensively.
