The Cubs won a WS after 108 years. Almost no major sports franchise wins back to back titles. The Cubs are playing poorly? WHO THE FUCK CARES!!! THEY WON THE WS AFTER 108 YEARS! FUCK OFF AND ENJOY LIFE!!

I'll panic when they talk about forfeiting the 2016 WS.

This attitude? That is the type of attitude which allows you to go 108 years without a championship.

Nip it in the bud immediately. It is an unacceptable viewpoint. The 2016 World Series became irrelevant immediately after the ring ceremony.

IMU, if the Cubs suck two years from now, wake me up. Your expectations are unrealistic.

It is very realistic to expect the Cubs would not have started 17-17 and fourth in their division.

I did not say the Cubs need to repeat. I did not say the Cubs have to win four of the next five World Series. After all, I'm the one that came up with that "point system" three years ago to rate how the rebuild could be a success with NO WORLD SERIES VICTORIES during the Theo Epstein tenure.

That being said, the Cubs won a World Series. That is in the rear view mirror. This isn't a sweepstakes where once you win one, you are barred from entering another sweepstakes from that same company for 36 months. Winning the 2016 World Series has no bearing on the fact that the Cubs should be leading the division and not looking back now that we are 20% of the way into the season.

tl;dr
Failing to win the 2017 World Series? Acceptable.
Failing to make the 2017 Postseason? Absolutely inexcusable.

Looks like the Cubs caught lightning in a bottle in 2016. At least you got your win.

I don't understand your continual annoyance of IMU having standards and expectations for his World Series winning ballclub.

But he said last year doesn't matter so it's not like they're really the World Series champions anyway.

The Cubs are playing awful baseball but they're still .500. MANY teams wish they could say that. The starting pitching will be a minor problem but this is still a championship team. You people who are overreacting should be ashamed of yourselves. I usually agree with IMU when it comes to baseball but he's dead wrong.

The Cubs over the last TWO YEARS have been one of the best if not the best team in baseball. A letdown is acceptable. I just wished they were a little more proactive this past offseason by acquiring a 5th starter.

My goal / hope for this team is another playoff appearance this season. I'll be disappointed if they don't. If they do make the playoffs I'll be satisfied and then just hope they can win playoff series'...and maybe another WS. For me...it's all about getting in the tournament. That simple.

Sleep well dolphin, for when Carl Edwards Jr. is leading the league in saves you'll be tossing and turning.

You can only obtain a save in a win.

The Cubs no longer get wins.

We all want the Cubs to win. To say that the 2016 WS no longer matters is dumb.
