Joe was the guy to get them over the hump in 15 and 16. Hes not the guy you need managing a team that should be there already. A thousand questionable tactical moves and his handling of the bullpen should tell you it's time to move on. One goddamn run in 21 innings of baseball to close out the season? Thanks for the memories. Go away.

Davis... christ man what can you even say to defend Davis. Nothing. He has to know right now hes getting fired. Bye felicia.

Hickey does nothing that I can tell. So, later dude.

Maddon should be fired tomorrow morning.

Yu, Chatwood, Morrow - who was that asshole who decided to bring in those 3 bums? Someone in the FO needs to be gone too.

Coming from a casual baseball fan - is Maddon seriously in jeapordy of being fired or is this mostly just fans not being content without a ring?

Bernstein's been up Maddon's ass for weeks now, something this team would not let the rightsholder do if they didn't want them to. Call it a non-zero chance.

Maddon has got to go. After last year you let him fire all the coaches he wanted in the hopes that his picks could help the team score runs with RISP. They've gotten 10 points worse in OPS+ relative to the league since those moves were made, to say nothing of the divisional lead his team pissed away, and their performance in these one game playoffs.

Binny's is going to need a new spokesperson. Does Mitch like beer?

They wont fire Merlot Joe, it'd be bad for the brand. The Cubs thing is still lucrative bucks with the dumbass glasses and shit.

Never mind they are getting outdrawn in their own building by the fucking Brewers.

If he costs them that WS as he should have I can only imagine the vitrol. But the universe gave me President Trump to make up for it so I have found myself at peace with 2016.

I actually agree with you 100%

we needlessly fired the 2 guys that developed this team (hitting and pitching coach).

and Maddon's shit doesn't work with a team that's been there.

He should be in jeopardy. His bad decisions directly related to the injury of two prime late inning pitchers. Hes make way too many questionable calls. He pulls his young starters way too soon, has for years.
It's time for him to go. At the bare minimum Davis and Hickey should be sent on their way tonight. But Maddon wont be getting his extension. Cut bait now. At his last gig his welcome got worn out. It did here too.

Cubs won 95 games and still figured out a way not to make at least the NLDS. There needs to be at least one severed head on a stick after that or you're fine with anything.

They lost the division lead, the division tiebreaker and the wild card game. I miss the old days before these one game wildcard games. Baseball is not the NFL. A single postseason game should not decide the first round of the playoffs when one of the teams in the wildcard game has a better record than a division winner.

I would've left Maddon in Cleveland in 2016.

Maddon is not going anywhere.

That's been my assumption. To be clear I don't have an opinion either way on if he SHOULD be fired. It just seems insane to me this is even a discussion.

If you don't have an opinion, how do you think it's insane to discuss it? Then your opinion is that he shouldn't be.

It's not insane. Be ready for this to be the main narrative after bears talk for the next 3 months.

I would have fired Joe after the WS.

He probably won't be fired now.

knee jerk reactions dont happen because of one early exit. But this certainly is a big negative on him that will start to weigh on Theo's mind in the long run.

Maybe if they had spoken out against the atrocity that was done during the Central Park 5 case then they wouldn't be having these problems.

I refuse to support a team or manager that cavalierly dismisses such injustices!

I knew that looked crazy wrong and was confused my auto-correct had no suggestions to improve it so just went with it.

The free pass to Theo needs to end. He spent 200 million on 3 guys who were nowhere to be seen. Has a shit offense. Made a trade for Wilson.

Cub fans have become spoiled and insufferable. At least one is part of a recent phenomenom.

Theo made big fuckups this year, but unlike Maddon, he learns from mistakes and history. Theo is fine for now.

- lost Pedro Strop down the stretch because Galaxy Brain Joe thought his reliever could hit for himself and then pitch a third inning
- made an insensitive ass of himself with the Russell suspension
- blew a five-game lead at Labor Day
- Two runs in 22 innings in two do-or-die home games, both lost

There's enough to fire him, yeah.
