This trade never made sense for me and I'm still confused by it. I m not saying Soler is gonna turn into an All Star player or anything and yes he should have been traded but why not deal him to a team for a cost controlled SP? Why did we trade him to the Royals for a closer that we were only gonna have for 1 year? It just didnt make sense to me and still doesnt

Could we have gotten a young cost controlled SP for Soler?

I don't think you could have gotten a decent young starter. That was a case of the Royals not being able to re-sign a guy so they kinda had to trade him.

It was a go for it right now move and Davis was pretty great that year so I have no issue with it.

Speaking of that philosophy, Aroldis Chapman hasn't hit 100mph in his 48 pitches thrown this year.

we're talking about the same Jorge Soler that has exactly one season in which he has played 100 games and is now 27?

They got great value for him just in getting a legit closer.

That was a good trade. Soler has been fairly worthless for the Royals during the majority of his time there. He has had a nice start to the season this year but he will get hurt, he always does. They let Davis walk because Joe wore him out and then some. They had no intention of re-signing him or Chapman so Joe rode them both to death. There was one game vs the Nationals in the NLDS where he let a completely gassed Davis go 3 innings.

i didnt like the trade but so far Soler has sucked dick, so it's been good for the Cubs.

Wade Davis was somethin' else.
