When all’s said and done , yes . He’ll also get the big contract while they let Bryant leave which is good cuz he’s mad anyway over his service time .

Agreed. Javy does what he does at shortstop.

Baez is a perfect example of statistics being deceiving. 312 career obp. 326 obp his best year 2018. Heyward's obp with Cubs 328. 2 points higher than Baez stellar year.

Statistics aren't deceiving unless you allow them to be.

Since 2016 Heyward has slugged .375, over that same period Baez has slugged .507. This is why Baez is a much better offensive player. It's not some big mystery.

No mystery Heyward's value has been exaggerated until this year.. He's finally putting up some numbers to earn his money this year...so far.

Yes 100%.

As I’ve been saying for close to a year Bryant’s shoulder issue is an over training injury.

I hope his power comes back 100%, but I don’t see him having 35-40 home run power. More like 20-25.

It's not that the statistics are deceiving. The statistics are clear. Baez, who Cub fans love, is not as good as Heyward, who Cub fans hate. Great tags at second base go a long way.

Baez has a low caeer obp. Low obp has been trashed by Bernstein and metrics geeks as a sign of low value. He's obviously valuable and getting better. No kidding slugger Baez has a higher slugging % than limp unproductive Heyward? Adam Dunn had decent ops, obp but was a 201 ba stiff. My point was Baez has tremendous value with a low obp contradicting sabermetrics. Bryant ever gets over his beaning, is healthy, does things his way, he'll be a MVP contender again.

40 doubles
34 HR
9 triples
111 rbi

That's what javy did last year, Heyward won't ever pull that off.

Baez seems to be playing himself into a contract with the Red Sox or Yankees. Good for him.

 @Bob.

Bryant has hit over 30 home runs once in his career. He kinda is a 20-25 home run guy.

On a more serious note, was listening to MLB Network Radio in the car around lunchtime today. The guys have Baez now pegged as a perennial mvp candidate and the second most exciting player in the league behind Trout. Then, by the time they were done discussing it, they had Javy as THE most exciting, based on the number of plays he's involved with as a middle infielder.

Pretty soon, he'll be approaching J-Hey numbers.

Who has exaggerated Heyward's value as a hitter? He has never ever lived up to the hype of his first ever at bat.

Looks like Tarzan, hits like Jane has been his tag for as long as I can remember. Excellent fielder who has never lived up to expectations at the plate.

He finished up last season finally starting to hit balls hard and has continued into this season. Wouldn't it be great if he finally measures up to expectations at the plate?!

Javy, great fielder, the comparison with Heyward ends there. Their plate issues are nowhere near similar. Heyward had terrible problems with his swing mechanics. He was all out of sync, he couldn't get his hands through, he couldn't sync up his lower body. He swing was a complete mess. Javy has great mechanics but was simply out of control, chasing balls out of the strikezone, swinging at everything, twisting himself into the ground trying to crush everything. Heyward needed a complete teardown and rebuild, Javy needed discipline.

Javy has a beautiful natural swing and bat speed. Reminiscent of Sheffield.

Roided or non-roided Sheffield?

Tom, Theo, Joe, Jed, Bernstein, Speigel, Parkins, Les...
