I think I have officially transitioned from WSCR to WMVP...even though this week they've bored me to death with Bears top 100 talk...way more interesting than Bernstein and McKnight yapping for 20 minutes about the top articles on Reddit aka Midway Midday...

Don't look now but Darvish has managed 4.26/1.42 over the last month with 37K in 25IP, and that's including his 4IP 5ER game to mess up the statlines. he seems to be trending towards "pretty decent" lately as you figure a sub-4.25 ERA pitcher with all those Ks should be able to scrape a few wins with this ballclub.

that said, his inability to go deep in games (with his best games being 5.1IP 2ER 11K and 6IP 1ER 8K) strains the bullpen and almost makes you wish that Arrieta accepted the cubs original offer to him (which, IIRC, was somewhere between the 3yr deal he got in Philly and the deal Darvish signed with the Cubs) even tho Jake the Great has been pretty blah with a 3.75-4.00ERA and underwhelming K rates since joining the phightin phils.

I agree but Theo seems to be starstruck with him. Can't break up the core.

What the hell was Heyward doing? Way to run the team out of a potential big inning...unless it was a missed hit and run.

They had to bring Bad Break out of the pigpen to blow Hendricks's win.

the guy has a 3.05 ERA and a 1.69 WHIP... Something's gotta give; either the ERA is gonna go up or the WHIP is going to come down.

If only Ricky was still here I wouldn't be worried since we know that #RickysBoysDontQuit -- Joe? *shrug*

Its every fucking day with this pen. They can't hold shit so either the starters have to be lights out or the offense has to score 10. Addy can get on the bus back to Iowa anytime now. They have an IF who they signed out of Italy (after leaving affiliated ball) who has torn up AA and AAA.

And hey, after blowing the lead in the 7th Brach is back out there to start the 8th... Is this the law of averages at work or something we could say is so crazy it just might work?

Even if the starters are lights out can you count on any of them to go 7/+? Obviously the game has changed to where ~6IP is the average to for a starter, but when you've got Hendricks and Nu-Darvish in the rotation (read: 6IP at most more often than not) you're really gonna lean on that one more than you'd ideally want to.

You don't bring fucking Monty in with runners on. He throws half his damn pitches in the dirt and while he gets swings he also lets the runners advance quite often. You want outs, you bring in SheShack.

Gout is extremely painful.
You should stop watching if you don't want gout.

I'm getting to the tail end of a flare up that has lasted about two weeks. It hit about three different places, one after the other.

Do something Theo. You are pissing away game after game because you won't do a god damn thing to fix a glaring problem. Go get Giles already. You have scouted him, he is available so go and get him.
