Why are some of the games on CH.7? Seems to be usually on the weekends. What terrible sports coverage. Why not just put those on WGN? How the hell did Ch.7 get a piece of the pie?

What are some pros of games being on Ch.7? Maybe it would be easier for out of towners staying at hotels to find the damn game on TV?
I don't get it.

It's the old WGN America package that was technically separate from the local WGN package. Channel 7 decided to buy it when the contract with WGN expired and they decided they didn't want sports on the superstation anymore.

All the TV contracts expire this year and all the games will be on "Marquee Sports Network." It's annoying to have Cubs coverage spread across four channels, but if they screw the pooch on carriage-fee negotiations next year, we may not have the Cubs on any channels.

Hey dipshit, how hard is it to find a cub game? You've got 4 channels to decipher.

Legend has it that when ABC7 bid on the rights, they failed to understand that they had to provide the actual production budget (cameras/audio/graphics/replays) of the game. They thought they could tap into existing (visitor's broadcast/in-house feeds. And that it is why it is sold (promos's, advertising supported crap in their inventory) so much more than comcast or wgn.

By the way, good luck to Sinclair with the the 8 year-old idea that someone out there is going to buy into the subscription model of 5-6$ a month on a traditional cable platform. I'm 57, and i cut the cord, and I don't think my sons (both in their 20's) have ever, or will ever, pay for most sports as it is too easy to stream for free.

It really sucks that no more free Cubs games.

The Cubs made 3 generations of a fanbase by televising free Cubs games on the superstation WGN channel 9.

So many people from all corners of the nation / globe are Cub fans just because that is the only team they could watch on their tv.

I don't have cable.

I won't have cable.

This Sinclair thing should fail miserably. Pretty sure MLB is about to take out blackout restrictions, which means all us cord cutters will simply buy the MLB package. It's sad...it really is.

I'm with Oscar and COF. No way I'm paying for this. I'll find it online somewhere.

They should have abandoned ship as soon as the Blackhawks re-upped with NBC. The plan was always to bring them over for the six months the Cubs don't play. Now that Sinclair has bought the Fox Sports RSNs, I guess they can pad out the rest of the year with whichever college sports properties, if any, the RSN family has, but is there much of a market here for Pac-12 basketball?

They should have Cheryl Scott be part of the games on Channel 7. Lost opportunity. Do the weather every 5 minutes, no game action missed.

I think they originally had something like that in mind but got away from it early on.

The only thing I want to see Cheryl Scott do every five minutes is have a thick penis in her mouth so she cannot talk.
