No what happened was - and this is mostly from inside info from Murph - when they were going after Darvish, Theo and one or another person were the only ones that thought it was a good idea. The rest of the brass let Ricketts know they were strongly against it. I'm talking like 10-13 people.

When the shit hit the fan last year, Ricketts soured on Theo and was like FUCK NO I'm not giving you any of my money to waste. So the wallet was closed.

So we all thought and accurately that the wallet would be open in the Theo/Ricketts era. We would be like the Yankees. But Theo fucked himself last off season and he is solely at fault on why Ricketts closed the wallet.
