Laugh all you want, but think about it. It's true.

Every team, and I mean every team, is a tough out, and competes. Theres not much that separates the top and bottom.

I mean think about it. If two good teams would play each other the whole year, guess what they're records would be? About .500. Does it mean they are .500 teams? No. It means they are two great teams that are beating up each other. Also think of highly competitive NBA finals series where one team wins game 7.

Same concept here. Pirates and Reds really gives the Cubs and Brewers fits. And they have some good young talent, especially hitting. Cubs and Brewers are on top due to slightly better and more consistent pitching, but really, these teams are quite evenly matched. In fact I'd say that St Louis is probably the worst team in the division, even though we think of them as #3.

This is actually a fun year to watch NL Central baseball. Very competitive and the teams beat up on each other. There are no clear cut advantages. Think of this: If PIT sweeps this series, they are just 1 game behind the Cubs.
