they won in spite of his efforts to completely fuck up that world series victory. i have had no use for merlot joe for some time now. but if they get rid of him mid-season they may as well blow the team up.

Cubs fans were very pleased when he was hired ( he won a lot of games and a ring) he was a big upgrade over RR.

Nothing lasts forever, Even Quenville was dumped for a shake up. This isn't the White Sox where you get a job for life.

I have no idea if Ross will be good or not, he was a CATCHER so I'll go with him being good with the pitching staff. He's also beloved by 90% of that clubhouse..if it doesn't work out then hire somebody else.

No.. he may be a huge upgrade, Ross is an unknown. I've always liked catchers that manage though. Maddon is good for keeping guys loose and relaxed, no good on accountability and X's and O's.

Maddon has a specific skill set. It worked to get the young team to and through the playoffs, even though he is a shitty in-game manager.

That skill set isn't really useful right now. The approach has a shelf life. He's reaching it with these guys. He should go rebuild the Mets.

Ryne Sandberg was by all accounts a very good minor league manager and a shitty major league manager, because his skills worked best with 19 year olds.

Ross isn't better or worse necessarily than Maddon. He is expected to have a different skill set that is more appropriate for this part of the team's lifecycle.
