He won a world series for the Cubs. Everything else is meaningless, even when I say that this team probably underwhelmed from the Joe Sheehan oral homage of the early 2010s.

Theo has made some excellent moves like trading for Jake Arrieta and Pedro Strop, signing John Lester and to lesser extent, signing guys like John Lackey, and lots of lesser contributors. Yes, he has made some bad deals too. The Jimenez deal and for me, the Torres deal have been tough ones to take. I said at the time of the deal, that including Dylan Cease in the Jimenez deal was the worst thing. He has top of the rotation stuff. Jimenez is a below average outfielder and had already shown a bit of an issue with injuries. But when healthy he will hit and hit with exceptional power. But what's done is done. The Cubs just need to make more Arrieta type deals and draft more Bryant/ Schwarber types and get back to winning divisions and contending for championships.

I wanted Scherzer instead Lester..a lot of Cub fans did..that was the move to make..hes still kicking ass while Lester is spent. He's been a significantly better pitcher in the last 6 years also.

Nothing to it !

How about stop making horrible big money signings and trading your top prospects for #3 starters?

The problem was Theo should have used Eloy and Cease to get Verlander. Had he done that, they probably would have 1 more World Series. Maybe 2 more.

Schwarber gets us Verlander. Don't be ridiculous.

I don't see how any person can complain about a deal with a direct link to winning a world series.

The Quintana trade will haunt them for a long time.

This is Theo's 9th year with the team. He has always said he thinks he should move on every 10 years.

Yeah it is pretty hard to argue on any of that. Anyone that complains about the Chapman deal is an idiot. Gleyber is a fine player, but they won the fucking world series.

Now the Q deal is completely different. They rolled the dice on a couple seasons and that has clearly come back to bite them in the ass. Having Eloy and Cease right now would be a game changer.

Will be interesting to see what happens with Theo in the next year or two. Does he walk away as he has alluded to in the past or does he want the challenge of trying to do it a second time in Chicago.

Red Sox, Cubs...the next step is clearly the Unites States Government

Steve wanted his 3rd and 4th Cubs WS titles before the team even had their first. If nothing else, Steve has been an absolute idiot here for the better part of 12 years. Its an impressive and consistent streak which makes it hard for me to believe that its an act.

Kick Trump and Biden to the curb, let Theo do some work.

I wonder if he will try to get into MLB offices and try to be the arbiter of the impending labor strife. That would be a serious addition to the resume.
