I cannot imagine the Cubs don't see what I see. Even at his best when it counted (NL Division Series, 2016) he's not a guy to make a long term commitment to. I have to hope that the Cubs are trying to drive up his perceived value when they let it slip they're trying to re-sign him. I can't imagine they get much in trade for him but you have to try.

At this point you either keep Bryant or CONEtreras. Failing that, you blow the whole thing up and trade everything, and suck for a few years.

Their dWAR over the last two seasons is also very close.


Its amazing that in 21 fewer games, Timmay has 70 more hits and over 100 fewer strikeouts. Baez has hit quite a bit more homers, yet Timmay has a 100 point lead in OPS.

Somewhat true, if you know the game you can see the piss poor defenders and realize they kill your team because like speed, poor defense always shows up.
