Not only does Morel get the warning track yips, get poor jumps, he for as fleet of foot as he is, noticably struggles moving laterally in the outfield. And with his speed only has 1 stolen base. I don't think Grandpa will be praising his Zack McKinstry like "high baseball IQ" anytime soon.

Why is this surprising to anyone? They were coming into the season and are a bad baseball team. They played well out of the gate for a month and are now where their talent level dictates they should be.

They need to get what they can for Wisdom and Barnhart now. The Yankees could use Wisdom as a four corners backup and to play when Stanton inevitably ends up on the IL again.

But they will lose at least 2 of 3 to Tampa. It is time to play the kids and extend the couple of pieces who really want to be here, such as Stroman and maybe Gomes.

Play Morel, Mervis, Mastrobuoni five days a week and Amaya three days a week. Bring up Yonathan Perlaza for Rios. (Jake Slaughter is striking out way too much at Iowa, and Brennan Davis isn't striking out but is making weak contact too often.)

Bring Wesneski back and stick Taillon on the IL. Taillon was fine before he got hurt so something is wrong mechanically, let him do a rehab stint at Iowa. Bring up Bailey Horn to be the second lefty in the bullpen, and activate Heuer next weekend when he is eligible. Send Assad back to Iowa and let the kid pitch 100 pitches every fifth day. Tell Ross that the next time he pitches Fulmer when they are winning, tied, or down 1 that he is fired. Let Leiter close the few times they have a save situation, and leave Estrada and Merryweather to alternate pitching the 8th regardless of the score.

His total game was a complete mess with the Cubs. Something was definitely
wrong. The stone pony I would think has a reliable source. Like to see Nick Madrigal move on where he could get 400 ab's for a couple years opportunity. 10 years from now will be interesting looking back on the Cubs self praised hitting/pitching lab results.
