Is Ross going to get fired for over tanking? This is the worst team I have ever seen in the history of baseball right now. They routinely give let the opposition bat around in an inning. I have seen bad teams that lose like the pirates but I have never seen these 10 run uncompetitive blowouts game after game. Ross should be embarrassed to put that shit on the field. They are bad but no one is this bad.

Ross knew he was in for this, although I don't think he thought it would be this bad.

He's taking one for the team the way that Alan Trammell took one for the Detroit organization. But I don't think anybody thought the pitching staff would be this useless, especially the starters.

ETA: it seems from reading the box score that Steele pitched ok tonight, 2 runs in 4 IP for your second major league start in that ballpark on a summer night isn't the end of the world. But Rucker is totally overmatched and needs to be sent back to Iowa now.

These games are just humiliating. You should always give your best effort no matter your record. It looks like the leftovers from the opening day roster have completely mailed it in. Its clearly a bad roster but the effort and focus seems completely absent from many of the players. I don't see how he can just say fuck it and let them get hammered by a dozen most nights when he has to take command of the clubhouse next spring. It may be a futile effort but at least try to hold this awful roster to a higher standard.

Part of me also wonders if he truly wants to do this or if he said yes because those were all his guys and teammates just a few years ago. Now that they are all gone is his heart still in it like it was?

wasn't that dickhead brought in specifically because of his ability to leverage his relationship with the veteran core to maximize their production?

He certainly did not appear to have good control of the locker room as their was a clear divide between baez/contrearas and rizzo's faction.

There is a lot of criticism that should be left at his feet. Maybe if he spent less time chasing strange like a ballplayer and more time at his job, he could have pulled them together.

I understand Ross can only play who is on the roster. But he has been at the helm for an 11 game losing streak and a 12 game (and counting) losing streak. The Cubs are something like 12-40 since mid June. He's the manager, and he definitely gets some blame whether its fair or not.
