Yet ANOTHER easy opponenet. It's sad that Bully Hoyer never gave his team a chance to make hay in the second half.

This had gotta be one of the easiest schedules ever during a post-All-Star break stretch of 5 weeks.

Fuck YOU Bully Hoyer.

Bigger crowd than expected.

Happ with ANOTHER homer to bring them back from 3-0 to lead 5-3.

Hard to believe that Ortega has about an .820 OPS yet Happ has a below .700 OPS, and up until a couple weeks ago, around .600 OPS, despite Ortega with only 8HR and Happ with now 17 HR's.

Happ has now cracked .200. AVG.

Ricketts is in the front row near the on-deck circle talkin' to 3 other graybeards older than him.

Look closely.

What a wild ending. Blooper for the ages

Even JD says he's never seen a game end this way.

Great job Happ!

I took the Cubs.

Pirates playing a day game after a night game will be hung over so I'll take the Cubs again today

interestin' start to the damn game.

Doug Glanville on the call, solo, for the first few hitters.

JD has just walked in after a negative test and is now the analyst. Boog still getting tested.

Glanville and JD seem to be in different locations. Weird.

Glanville said this had to do with David Ross and BULLY HOYER testin' positive.

This team is terrible and it really doesn't matter for them but if we are going to be testing symptom free, healthy, vaccinated people and having them pop positive some other sports or teams are going to be fucked. This has got to be treated like a strep test or its going to become even more of a shitshow.

Always great to have your cleanup hitter drop down a bunt only to have a runner get thrown out at home

Fuck Hermosillo, he sucks.

Matt Duffy is the cleanup hitter with a .301 SLG (1 HR on the season)

In fact, he is the rare case of having a .SLG less than the .OBP.

.OBP about .340.

It doesn't happen too often. Acting manager tossed.

When he initially walked onto the field towards the umpire, I thought I wonder who would take over if he goes all Lou Piniella and gets tossed.

That was fun. You don’t see much of that anymore.

Green can get pretty animated. There are some good clips of him on YouTube getting tossed when he was Padres skipper.

Frank Schwindel (129 ab) & JHK (305 ab) both have 25 RBI.

They're protecting JHKs (130k a game) slash line sitting him. But, there's nothing they can do to prop up his RBI total. It will be historically low for a RF.

Wisdom is a fluke(look at his K%) but Schwindel might be for real. He's hit well at every stop in his career.

I don't get this he's 30, so he's trash. Ron Coomer was 28 3/4 in his MLB debut. Time will tell on Ortega, Wisdom, and Schwindel.

I love Coom Dog, but the "Former Cub and All-Star" had a WAR of 1.4 over his 9 year career. That's 1.4 total.

Then again he made a little over 5 mil in his playing career compared to somebody who will make 200 mil when it's said & done. I think Wisdom, Ortega & Schwindel wouldn't mind a 9 year decent career, and post career coveted color-man tv jobs. You're right his numbers aren't great. But if you talk to him he's very appreciative, and humble for everything he's done and has.

I wonder if JORR thinks Schwindel is better than Frank Thomas.

The question with all three of them is if they need everyday at bats to keep in a groove, or can they take the confidence from this year and produce as quality bench guys going forward

Wisdom is solid defensively at 3B. They can ride there in 2022 with him and either Duffy or Bote in a job sharing role.

Schwindel may luck out with the DH probably coming to the NL. But he is the one who most has to be able to be an effective two-out PH to keep a roster spot as a backup 1B.

Ortega has earned the #4 OF spot for next year against RHP. His exit velocity is basically the same as it's always been and his line drive percentage is a little better, but he has drastically cut down on ground balls. So his BABIP is much higher than with his previous teams, but Baseball Reference doesn't split that by ground ball vs fly ball. It may be a mirage or it may be that he was always a much better fly ball hitter but was being miscoached or stubborn before. But he was a negative WAR .580 OPS guy elsewhere, and is a productive strong side platoon CF here. He also makes parts of a Venezuelan triumvirate with Contreras and Chirinos, and isn't arbitration eligible next year. So he is a basically free risk.

If you add up the production from Schwindel, Ortega and Wisdom it absolutely blows the post trade production of Rizzo, Baez and Bryant out of the water.

What a lame ass fruity play from your soft contact gold glove right Fielder. He should be embarrassed by that soft as baby shit play.
