my favorite cubs/padres moment was that one time i was at the shrine an hour or two early for the game and i got to delight in watching a bunch of drunks in the bleachers give late-career tony gwynn directions to the nearest KFC. seriously if you're going to group up and talk/sing shit at a ballgame do it right!

Sounds like the Cubs (11 gb both div & wc, 5th worst MLB winning %) are on the verge of a huge run to win it all.

From The Daily-Herald.

Keep fighting," said outfielder Jason Heyward when asked for the team's mood before the opener of a four-game series against the Padres at Wrigley Field on Monday. "Those days will happen. Doesn't matter what your record is. Look back at some of the best teams, they're gonna have tough days, tough series, tough weekends. That's part of it."

Occasionally checking the box score kinda knew the lead would evaporate. Efross at 6 pitches. Is he through or will he need to be carted off if he does another full inning?

I'm a little confused why Ross pulled out Hendricks after 78 pitches. My wallet absolutely thanks him though. Tremendous opportunities with the Padres live moneyline knowing the Cubs bullpen was coming sooner rather than later. +700 at one point. I felt like I was stealing from Bovada.

This team is garbage and one loss bleeds into the next with a rotating cast of never were and never will be players.

That said, aside from an injury pulling Hendricks there is beyond dumb. He isn’t the 2016 version of Hendricks, but the nights he has his command, he is a legit pitcher.

He had a really tough 27 pitch 1st inning -- but after that, he was great. Even if he went another inning, this bullpen would've still shit the bed.

The over was money even with the pregame total at ten. I'm on the over Wednesday with Miley vs tbd, the garbage cub bullpen and close to 100 degree temps.

With everyone imploding the marketable guys left are Happ, Robertson & Contreras who could bring back some value. Kimbrel struggled again last night with a 2 hit / 1 walk signature save. 1.45 whip is higher than last year with Sox. Robertson would be a nice fit in LA.

Kilian thrown to the wolves tonight with a stiff wind blowing straight out.

Heyward's legs look gone. Loafing after Voit's double he looked helpless. Then thrown out at home the other day it was obvious. Ross seems to step in for his buddy and PH when he's the potential final 9th inning out which is hilarious like last night.

I'm thinking 100+ losses is now possible after the trade deadline.

Steele pitched with a bruised finger from a line drive. Suzuki in intensive care death watch with a finger sprain.

I don't think Robertson will get you much.

Bruce Levine said the Cubs young (none are that young) pitchers getting bombed is part of the developmental process. Some adversity ok. But, getting annihilated continually is no reason to celebrate.

Is this Ryan Weathers David Weathers's kid?

Dude looks like a baby-faced David Weathers.

Also, LOL @ the audio of the phone ringing in the bullpen!

Ross keeps on leaving Killian in there one inning too long because he knows the bullpen other than Robertson, Effross, and occasionally Hughes suck. Then Killian gives up more runs, and the bullpen sets the field on fire.

DJ & Len talked about they're in favor of a 10 run rule because of teams having pitching dilemmas. Something could happen how soft, injury prone, pitch counts, unwillingness to play through the tiniest of pain, and data driven abundance of pitching changes.

Voit with a moonshot off of Schwindel. Cubs are a laughingstock.

In the last five games, Cubs have been outscored 61-15.

Cameron Maybin making a fool of himself on the Marquee postgame. “A positive note is the Cubs continue to compete. Guys like Ian Happ and ‘Christian’ Morel…”.
