First time Cubs have been in London since the winter of 1888-89, when Albert Spaulding took the then Chicago White Stockings on a globe trot to Australia, Asia, Africa and Europe and then back in time for Opening Day

Hmmm...im just not convinced yet. I was looking at their schedule and they have a few interdivision series before the deadline. Reds series starts 7/31. Yes, this division is bonkers and itll likely shift a couple times before the deadline, but if they cant do anything in the series' vs Cards and Brewers before end of July, almost have to be sellers.

You need something cheaper than prescription meds and OnlyFans to get an erection.

I mean, 2 games in 5 days when you’re actually hot isn’t great.

and that's a lot of travel. i really do not understand doing this in baseball. brits hate our football enough, but they think of baseball even less. it would probably be like what we think of the WNBA.

"Fake rebuild" (29 year old average) Cubs vs. lost the "Cardinals way" this year.

Playing baseball in London is stupid.

Why did we kick their ass if we just come back and sing their anthems?

This is a very dumb statement. Please don't take offense though. There'll be an NFL team in London because people there want it.

Sure there will. Because of American arrogance. Not because of English interest. Every time I go to a soccer bar I ask a Brit about the NFL and they always scoff at it.

Not to mention, as I did years ago, the most obvious idiotic thing about adding a team…you know, the time zone. and let’s see. How did it work out having a European American football league last time? There’s more betting interest in Chelmsford than there would be for the NFL.

Took until the 3rd inning for these goofs to make excuses for the Cardinals.

Madrigal with two hits. Still better than the garbage the White Sox have had at 2nd base.

I'm too young to remember the European American football league.

The NFL wouldn't establish an expansion team in a different continent without doing their due diligence making sure it's good business. I went to the Bears-Raiders game in London back in 2019. On my left was a guy and his daughter from Scotland and on my right were a couple from the London. Both parties loved the hits and toughness. Now, I didn't go around and interview 100 people and I know quite a few Chicago and California residents made the trip to London but that stadium in Tottenham holds 60,000 and it was packed.

I was at the Arsenal game hours before the Bears kicked off and sure, those people didn't give a shit about Bears-Raiders, but there are 65 million people in the U.K.

the NFL doesn't do due dillegence except maybe lip service. that's why CTE got out of control and why ex-players have so many other physical issues besides the head stuff. they have been grooming england for the past plus-decade but it's a whole different story bringing a brand new team there. now they aren't even giving bye-weeks to teams traveling across the pond. injuries mount up, but nobody cares because you can still bet juicy lines and the league makes its money.

it's not a good thing for the sport to expand. but it will anyway. i'm sure there are brits that do like the game. just like there are americans that do like soccer. but it's not their sport and they barely have any other major sport. cricket endures because of the indian/pakistani population. rugby endures because of tradition.

but back to the important thing--this game is fun to watch so far...

Man, Smoltz couldn't stop sucking Wainwright even as he was getting bludgeoned by the Cubs.

Right? It's like a 50-50 pitch called a ball was the reason Wainwright got his poop pushed in.

Can we just put the little guy at third for the rest of the season? He’s made some very good plays all game and his bat has been huge.

Better than HR or K Wisdom

The one guy they gave up on too early may become the best of their waves of talent in the long run

Woof, rough listen with these ESPN goofs. They talk like their audience is kindergartners and people who have never seen a baseball game before.

I was just thinking that. Who are these dweebs? The one dude says a hook for a punch out on every 2 strike pitch.
