It is tough to be a Cub fan really. There is always so much hope and media blowing smoke up everyone's asses it is hard to remain level headed. For instance, at the start of the last season no one expected anything. Then they go an have some guys come around and play over their heads and catch some lightning but alas they did not won anything.

Fast forward to 2024 and WCUB trumpeting them being one player away and favored to win their division etc etc even when they added nothing. Always overvaluing. We have Craig!

Its a tough fan life to have. At least we realize our team sucks early on and live with it. Cub fans take the slow water torture method.

I said as much in the Cubs/White Sox game thread and apparently it was a radical idea.

The Cubs were a .500 team last year. They made no demonstrable improvements to that team, I don't know why anyone is surprised they are a .500 team this year.

I thought they'd be second in the division, but to the Reds. No, other than a good starting pitcher, they didn't add much. Now next year....next year must be much better. They are spending money, they're just not spending it well.

The subtracted a #2 in Stroman and added a #2 in Imanaga. It’s a net neutral. Like does anyone think this team would be dramatically worse with Stroman’s performance vs Imanaga?
