Unless the ball goes right into his mitt he can't catch it. Cubs defense is shaky at first and third. Exciting team though!

I think that IF PCA proves that he belongs and Morel can play a passable 3B, then Bellinger goes to 1B when he returns and Busch becomes the primary DH. When Happ or Suzuki DH or PCA sits against a tough LH starter, Busch goes to 1B and Bellinger goes to the OF.

wisdom struck out 3 times yesterday - must have been impressive Ks, wisdom is starting over busch today. LP gasser, i believe this guy was the centerpiece of the hader deal.

not to pin it all on busch or wisdom - swanson starts another series as the SS with poorer offensive numbers. proving he was indeed the #4 SS in the great MLB SS free agency movement of 2022-23.

busch is due a pinch hit single, swanson is due 2 HRs in this series and wisdom..i don't expect anything.

busch will likely get chances to hit tomorrow, swanson 0-4 with 2 Ks and a fielding miscue that didn't hurt and wisdom 0-3 with a sac fly. sure all 3 understood that madrigal was playing due to his defense.

all are part of the problem.

cubs media world already touting him as a gold glove candidate. saw him nearly throw a ball into left field that swanson made a good play on in game #1 of this d'backs series and he dropped a little foul pop-up on the run in game #3 of the d'backs series. was a given a NP.

would still rather have bellinger playing first. no need to lead the busch parade to muddy up what mngt. did with bellinger.

It is a dollars thing. Unless you are the Dodgers, you have to play some young cost controlled talent to complement costly veterans.

i was told that the marquee tv network came into existence to combat the dollars thing and compete with clubs in other huge markets.

if the cubs complained about bellinger's salary, i'd ask, why did you pay drew smyly $9.5 million in 2024? cubs went over the cap by less than $300k in 2024 and an under contract bellinger needs to go in 2025? if bellinger is still on the 2025 cubs, i believe the cubs are nowhere close to going over the cap and have a much better club.

the cynicism is because they made the trade for tucker and still haven't extended him.

the next best thing for the club to do, is to hammer home the point that busch is a so-called gold glove candidate? that's winning baseball? the guy needs to hit, to slug. though skeptical - i'm willing to give busch a chance.

By the time Marquis went live everybody knew the RSN goldmine was dry.

I believe it was Crane Kenny, but one of the execs was on the Score last year. League wide, broadcast rights revenues are down something like 15% and continuing to slide. KD is spot on in that Marquis came too late. The Dodgers got lucky timing wise with the last, major, massive tv rights deal. I cannot believe Fox has not tried to break it.

so, $584 million in revenues last year. 3rd, i believe.

$213 million, payroll and tax in 2025. 14th highest.

#26 in terms of percentage of revenues used for payroll.
