too bad for him, no room on the big league roster. he looks like a real good left-handed bat. hard to see where he can fit in in the future with lee playing first, but it would be interesting to see his powerful left-handed bat in the bigs someday.

Yea, but seen to many of those spring wonders come up later in the year and suck once they are facing pitchers that dont suck. His 2nd homer today was impressive though, he hit it, in my best Len Kasper voice, outta of heeeere.

I got all excited by the title, but now I just feel unloved.

The Cubs are gonna blow. They will be unable to score runs in bad weather, just like last year, and will get off to a poor start. If they don't hit the ball out of the ballpark they will not score. The only saving grace is the horrible central division. Someday, the Cub will get a GM that understands how to construct a team that can win over the course of a full season at Wrigley Field. I hope I am wrong, but I have been hoping for the better part of the last 30 plus years and have nothing to show for it.

i think that the cubs lineup is much more settled going into this season than last. if last year did anything for the cubs, i think it really solidified what everybody's role on the team, and the lineup will be a little more consistent. i would feel better if soriano wasnt batting anywhere near the top of the order, and fukodome was, but i am sure they will be moved around as the season goes on.

i think the cubs get off to a better start than last year, they should score some runs, but it is all about the starting pitching in my eyes. they will only go as far as hill, dempster, lilly, marquis and leiber can take them. they need at least 2 of those guys to have very productive seasons (15 wins), and for zambrano to have a great year (20 wins), and take what you can from the other 2. zambrano needs to stop taking entire months off like he has every season up until now.

this team will be very hard-pressed to win 90, but could. as long as they finish 1 above the 2nd place team, i dont really care. one other thing that i kind of like, is that when the trade deadline approaches, they can make a move for an arm if they need to. they have the prospects they didnt fork over for roberts, and if they look like they are close, who knows? maybe they can get a gun-for-hire for the last half of the season in the rotation.

What should he have done to achieve that? More speed at the top of the lineup? Better pitching?

i think the club has plenty of speed, it is patience they have lacked. pie can run, soriano USED to be able to run (it sounds like he isnt going to be running much anymore), theriot can run, they have been sending him a lot during spring training. they only have a couple real base-cloggers. they need PATIENT hitters. thats what i love about fukodome this spring. he needs to get into that #2 hole. every team needs better pitching.

i dont think hendry has done a bad job. this team is good. not great, but good, and maybe very good, if they get the pitching.

At least we don't have the morons I see elsewhere suggesting we get rid of Dlee or bench him for this guy. Or say if Dlee goes down we're fine because of him.

Especially since if DLee went down Ward would take over at 1st and hoff might come up to be a backup.

Hey I agree with your initial thought on keeping Dlee (no shit)....but I think if he were to get hurt you would see Hoff-Power come in and play first...not Ward. Ward is slow & a bit of a butcher in the field, but he can certainly hit.

Now..we will not have to worry about that. DLee will be healthy all season and will be and his wrist is definitely 100% this year.
