Obviously one game defines an entire season so it must mean the Cubs will be lucky to not lose 100 games.

Should we trade everyone and get prospects? Who should we trade first?

I mean 0-1 means the season is over right?

There's a reason Lou was once Manager of the Year and we're on our couches drinking beer.

Steph, Listen, I know its only one game, but when they say, we are going to be a better team when it comes to base running and our bullpen is our strength and so on, its very frustrating to see the bullpen suck and for fukudome get caught off second. Throw on top the fact that derrek Lee just continues to take pitches to hit, me personally, I am tired of it, come out in that first game and send a message, not give the game away, which they did.

Based off of today's results I'd say that baseball is over for the city of Chicago.

Rodeo the fact that one game looked bad does not mean they are going to play that way for the entire season. It is as stupid as saying if they won 20-0 it would be like it all season.

There's again a reason LOu has been manager of the year and we're on our couches drinking beer.

Rodeo I've known you so to speak through the radio for years and I usually respect you but you are being silly at best,

At least give it a few weeks to see how it plays out. If they play like this for a monthish then I'll judge it then.

She thinks this is the media's fault too. Tough to blame Wood when outside of the Jap, the Cub managed just one lowly single.

Steph. I don't know you at all but tell me if I'm right.

For every Cubs game you're on the edge of your seat, chain smoking, and swearing at everything that goes wrong. You just seem like that type. Am I right?

I also bet that you have a huge memorabilia collection of Ryne Sandburg, Mark Grace, and Kerry Wood stuff? Pictures, autographs, cards, buttons. All of that shit. You seem like that type as well. Am I right?

The stupidity of some Cub fans is amazing to me. They didnt win the opener last year either, and guess what, they still won the divsion. Dumb, dumb, dumb.

Favre you cheered when Wood gave up the 3 runs I cheered when Fukudome gave up the 3 run homer.

To say Wood sucks after 1 game is so utterly ridiculous it's not even funny. When has he sucked his entire career? Don't give me injuries that's not sucking.

Beardown I don't smoke and actually I don't drink. Because of my health issues smoking and drinking would be more for me than even most people like putting a gun to my head.

I think people are just overreacting to one game.

If Wood had struck out the side on 9 pitches would you be calling him great? NO so you can't say he sucks based on a bad inning.

He looked great all spring. If he sucks for another 2 weeks then go to Marmol.

When it's a competition between people for the same job none of whom had done it recently go with the best overall player. Wood is the best pitcher of the 3 or has proven it as so (Marmol might be but he hasn't proven it to be).

Ok. But am I right about the huge memorabilia collection of cute, white Cubs players? Past and present. I gotta be right on that.

I'll also bet you've met Sandburg, Santo, Grace and Wood and cried in their presence because you were so happy. You hugged each of them. Holding them for an awkwardly long time making each of them feel uncomfortable.

to say wood sucks after one game isnt ridiculous. because injuries must count because they did happen. kerry wood is not a closer. he will not be the closer by june.

Actually I have a mixed memoribilia collection of players of all colors shapes and sizes. My all time hero is Andre Dawson who last time I checked isn't white.

And I have no memoribilia from any player named Sandburg. I do have some poems by Carl Sandburg but who is this Cubs player named Sandburg you speak of?

I know of a Ryne SandbErg but no Sandburg.

buckeye yes it is ridiculous to say a player sucks after 1 game. Especially since I know you wouldn't say he was great if he had struck out the side on 9 pitches.

He sucked today yes. But to say he'll suck as closer completely based on one game is ridiculous. There's no other basis to say he'll suck as a closer except for one game.

When has Wood sucked except for a game here and there his entire career?

Ok Steph. I wasn't calling you a racist. I was just trying to stereo type the women Cubs fan. Growing up, my best friend had a mom just like my description. Divorced and in love with Buckner, Santo, Sandburg,Grace and others.

It's not all of them. But a lot of women Cubs fans, 40-60, are like that. More so than women fans of other teams except probably the Red Sox.

Beardown I was just egging you. It is SandbErg by the way.

One of the dumbest things I ever heard was from someone when I mentioned I thought Lee was the best looking guy on the Cubs 2 years ago and someone said "He's black" and I said "So?" (for the record I now put DeRosa ahead of him slightly and Theriot behind him)

Boom!!! You are that type!!! Gotcha Steph!!! You can't hide it for long. It always comes out!!!!

Actually, I knew how to spell Sandberg. Just typed without thinking. Hey, I got RYNE right. I know a lot of Cubs fans that call him Ryan.

I think the cubs have a shadow team that had MaddOx, SandbUrg and WoodS on it.

I mean we're not talking about obscure players. We're talking about a HOF, a future HOF and someone who's in his 11th season here.

So I notice when players are good looking? Am I supposed to be blind.

Zambrano is my current favorite Cub. It's hardly for his looks :).

I know I'm just being silly.

I think it is even sillier people are saying Wood sucks based on one game one inning.

But the people saying it are Sox fans and I wonder why they give a flying whoop dee doo?

Do you see us over there saying Buerhle sucks based on one game? No. Because we don't give a flying whoop dee doo.

I just think it was very predictable that he was going to be bad, as far as sox fans throwing crap around, after watching kennys gem of a find, O. Dotel pitch today, I sorta feel better about wood.

I tried jumping out the window but I'm on the first floor.

I tried putting my head in the oven but it's electric.

I called the doctor and was going to stab myself in the heart and asked where I could find it and he said "Under your left boob" I stabbed myself in the knee.

At least we don't hear the usual "They don't care!" crap.

Do you guys really think the players aren't more disappointed than we are right now?

I love the fact that baseball is back. Chicago really cares about it. Both teams. It gets everybodys blood boiling. Bad Bulls seasons don't do that. People just stop caring after a while.

Not for bad Bears, Cubs, and Sox seasons. We always care.

Not that it's a bad baseball season for either team yet but a bad first Bulls game wouldn't bring out this type of emotion.

This is not a Cubs or Sox town. This is a Bears town.

The baseball group I belong to that is both Cubs and Sox fans actually grew out of a Bears group during baseball season.

And by the way I watched the final inning of the 05 world series with the biggest Sox fan I know.

The story is he lives up in waukegan and got off at Ohare in the 6th inning. Obviously he wouldn't get home by the end of the game.

He's a recovering alcoholic so going to a bar wasn't an option so he called me and asked if he could come over and watch it at my house.

Way cool.

It's only a Bears town cuz, with two baseball teams, it splits up the love for each team. It's probably 60-40 Cubs fans over Sox fans. Everybody is a Bears fan.

But, I think this city loves baseball equally as much as football. It's just divided by two teams so the Bears are the most beloved obviously.
