Astros/Cubs this weekend. Today's game is at 1:20 and features Rich Hill, who struggled thru spring training and Chris Sampson (7-8 4.59 last year).

My wife gets to go to tomorrows game and I get to clean out the gutters.
Any thoughts on the series?

Be curious to see if Pie plays all weekend. I would like to see the cubs take 2 from the series and get back to 500.

i see they will also face oswalt and brandon backe. i hope the cubs pitchers can keep it down, because that lineup can pound the ball pretty good. i get a feeling that the cubs will get their share of runs, but i worry about hill and marquis getting knocked around.

You shouldn't have to worry about Marquis and Hill until July. They'll be solid early.

i have good vibes about marquis, but im not feeling great about hill. i hope i am wrong, and pitches well, but he was throwing like shit in the spring, he didnt have too much control.

I was one of the few people who thought the Astros would contend for the division this year.

They do have a potentially good lineup, but will need Tejada to hit like he used to, but I have a lot of concerns with that starting rotation.

Through 3 innings Hill looks so-so. In the 2nd, he had control issues. Really would like them to get a W today, with Marquis throwing tomorrow.

Two out walk to Loretta and a homer to Towels put the Astros up 2-0 in the fourth.

Fuck.

Add to that the fact that besides Fukudome (who has the only hit so far today and is going bugshit hitting .556), NO ONE is hitting above .250 in the starting lineup and our vaunted leadoff hitter isn't hitting body temperature.

Not so gouda...

Simpson has faced 16 batters through five innings.

Fuck.

Fuck.

I'm going to do something less frustrating than getting updates on the game. Meaningless paperwork comes to mind.

Fucking Soriano, misplayed a double into a triple. Should have been charged with an error. Horrible defense in the 8th, DeRosa booting a routine 2 hopper. Leiber has looked good, should be still tied.

guess I can't blame him then, I still say they incorporate the 3 run rule with him though, he doesn't see the field unless they are up by or down by at least 3.

Looks like clutch hitting and defense will cost the Cubs today.

WOOO. One more run to go. I hate that they call him DRo. I had to think about it and figure out who that was when I first heard it. I am getting sick of abbreviating names like that.

So far, this squad is just as maddening as last year's.

Reason I hear you, however, we got solid pitching the last 2 days from our 3 and 4 guys, very good sign. Hitting will come around.

Will be interesting to see how Marquis pitches tomorrow.

Relax Cub fans. They're not staying in the cellar for long. I still see this team being competitive in the Central late into the season.

Nice subtle dig.

They started slowly last year and managed to win the Central. The first goal was achieved. The same should happen this year, and hopefully more.

Marquis sucks. 2 runs in 2 innings, but he has been in lots of trouble in both those innings, it should be alot worse.
