4/15 Harang v Dempster 7:05p
4/16 Fogg v Zambrano 7:05p
4/17 Volquez v Lilly 1:20p

Thoughts?
I don't like today's matchups. Cubs can't hit Harang.

You didn't mention the former Cubs manager who's coming to town today. Refreshing, and can't wait for this story to go away.

Yeah, I know. Was repairing an MPLS VoIP circuit while typing that all out.
Oh yeah, and I could give a rat's ass about Dusty or Patterson. So there, major media!

Cubs don't hit Harang, but Dempster has been a pleasant surprise. A low scoring affair in any case. One run game that goes either way.
Cubs win game 2.
Game three is a crapshoot as Volquez is brand new to the Cubs which usually means bad things for the already inconsistent offense. I see the Reds winning that one.
Since I'm a Cubs fan, I'll have my kool aid neat. Cubs win 2 of 3.

I think big Z goes deep tomorrow unless the wind is coming in. I know it's supposed to be windy tomorrow but who knows which way, not even Jerry Taft knows.

he may be riding high at the plate after his clutch game-winning fielder's choice/throwing error on a would-be doubleplay ball that put the cubs ahead this weekend. i still cant believe that play.

Tonight, I am going to my first game this season. I'm hoping they win...and hoping Dempster continues to show up. For some reason I see the name Harang & think "uh oh". Weather should be decent, so hopefully the Cubs hit a bunch too.

Go Cubs.

tommorrow should be quite a game, warm and south winds gusting to 40 mph. probably not a 1-0 pitchers duel.

Soriano gets hurt in the 1st inning doing his dumbass hop to catch the ball. Lou should have stopped that hop last season.

DLee just made it a tad bit more palatable of an evening.

Well of course not. That would take all the fun out of popping Rolaids and chasing that with a bracing shot of Pepto.

Followed by a shot of hooch.

When I was younger, I didn't need the Pepto and Rolaids, just the hooch. Now I don't drink, so the OTC candystand will have to do. I certainly understand the ubiquitous liquid solace though.

I don't know what fancy stuff ubiquitous liquid solace is, but bourbon still does the trick for me.

It's a single malt from Scotland.

DeRo...good. Pie...

Is he ever. Bleh. We're going to see more of him and possibly Murton should Soriano land on the DL.
But don't worry. It was all part of the plan to keep Marmol from being taken out for a pinch hitter.

Just noticed that Dunn and Pie have the same BA (within .007). Which hitter do you fear more at the plate? The guy with the strikeouts tonight (3) or the guy with the walks (4)?
That said, Pie runs circles around Dunn defensively.

When I drank, it was always vodka. Homage to the heritage.

Another great outing by Wuertz, forcing Lou to use Wood with a 4 run lead.

I dont know if the stats back this up, but when "hoppy" is not in the lineup, it just seems they hit better. If he is out for awhile, I could live with derosa in left and Fontenot at 2nd, put fontenot and Theriot at the top of the lineup, thats fine. As much as I ride DLee, I think that guy is going to have a huge year, they will need it.

only one man in the cubs team as it is currently made up should be leading off: fukudome. that guy knows how to hit, hit with 2 strikes, and draw a walk. get him up there, and move derosa and soto up. if it is a few days for soriano, i expect we will see derosa in left and fontenot at 2nd. no fucking way derosa makes that play fontenot made behind the bag at 2nd to save that run tonight, he is an upgrade defensively at 2nd. if it is more than a few days, hello, mr murton.

i know it gets beaten to death, but derosa truly is a valuable asset. his value is versatility, not as an every-day 2nd baseman.
