Soriano is going absolutely bugshit these past few games. All or nothing with this goof this year.
Soto is also going nuts lately. Now if Gallagher can just keep his act together for 5 plus innings. :?

It's nice to see a serious ROTY candidate in Soto.

I see Zambrano got an at bat today. I don't like the idea of Zambrano pinch hitting unless all of the Cubs position players have been used.
I especially don't like it when the game is 7-1 for the Cubs.

This could lead to an injury, maybe like him being plunked in the wrist like Ramirez during an at bat or pulling a hamstring running the bases.

Use Marquis instead. Zambrano is your ace, no need to risk injury.

Dammit enigma, that's exactly what I was going to say.

Looks like Gallagher had a decent outing...6 innings, only gave up one run. This is fun!

Another impressive win, scoring seven runs when D Lee and Ramirez go a combined 0-8.

Didn't watch the game but Gallagher going by the stats looked pretty good. And another efficient outing by Wood.

I was hoping for a 7-3 homestand, they have already 7 wins with the ace going tomorrow and then Marquis :(

Gallagher didnt pitch badly, a couple warning track flyball outs and looked to struggle with the strike zone at times, but he has good stuff.

Gallagher has a nice fluid motion. Throws 94 with a hammer. Plus, he has has a real sharp breaking ball too. He looked like he has real nice poise on the mound too. Funny, with Marshall, Lieber and Hill, all wanting back into the rotation, it may be the kid takes the spot. Fine with me, if he can repeat performances like today's. The other 3 can fight over Marquis' spot in the rotation.

One more thought-for all those who say "it's only the Pirate's" when the Cub's beat them, those Pirates are 5 over .500 if you subtract the 7 losses to the Cub's. They have a better team than some may think. I sure like that Nate McLouth. That guy is one tough out-with some pop too. Can't wait till he's arbitration eligible, so we can trade for him....

I hope Lance Briggs didn't impregnate someone while waiting for the seventh inning stretch.

Another nice win. Hitting, pitching, smart baseball....I have to reign in my excitement about this team.
They are doing things that no Cub team has done in my memory.
It kinda scares me. I am not ready for the world to end, just yet.
It is going to be a fun summer, nonetheless.
Ah, meaningful summer baseball, nothing better.

Yeah, I know, it scares the hell out of me too. I vowed after the '77 team choked and broke my heart, I would never get excited this early again.
I just can't seem to help myself, though. But goddamn, this is a good team.
They just need one more starter to step up.

Just say no to being a fucking dumbass. Even though you are a dumbass now, doesn't you have to be for the rest of your days.

Nah, just kidding. I'm excited about this team as well. A team that doesn't make you want to throw things at the TV. I'm not used to it.

Yeah, the drink does funny things to me sometimes. Too bad so many say yes to being fucking dumbasses.
I think there should have been a mean in the second sentence of the quote.
I can't really remember, though.

There's no reason on God's green earth that we should lose to the Pirates. Ever.

The cubs have basically taken every good player they've had in highway robbery trades, and thoroughly pounded the Bucs so hard that there's no reason (there's no f**king reason, dude) that they should win a single game against the Cubs this year.

But it is nice when they beat the Cardinals.

You two can't be serious. If you had asked me Wednesday nite, I would have rathered Z pinch hit for my team than Jim Thome. Zambrano is a pretty decent hitter and I think he should hit 7th or 8th when he pitches, and be used as a pinch hitter more often. He is not going to win any batting titles, but he'll hit a HR now and then, and I've seen him drop down some good bunts from time to time.

Some vintage 2004 Zambrano today, bat-over-knee antics, walking the pitcher, angry throwy meltdowny. Shitty 5th for the cubs.

oh my. frank. YOU cant be serious thinking there is even one situation where zambrano should start a game batting 7th in a big league lineup. EVER.

edit: the whole "bat your pitcher 8th" gimmick is retarded, also.

this is one of those periods where soriano will carry you for 2 weeks, then go 0-40, then carry you for 2 weeks. he is what he is, a slugger, and fortunately, a couple times, there have actually been some runners on base for him. hopefully he can keep it up for a while longer.
