It's a nice break that the Cub's get Colorado without their best hitter, Matt Holliday, in the lineup. The Rockies have really been disappointing to their fans so far this year. Hopefully, the Cub's can take 3 if not all 4 in this series.

I hope Colorado stays cold (not the weather, the team) during this series.

All right!
A 4 game series against a battered Rockies team. Just what the Cubs need at home.
Tonight, 7:05p LH Jeff Francis (1-5, 6.18) vs. RH Jason Marquis (2-3, 4.97)
Hmm, the Cubs against a struggling lefty. Sounds like a 2-1 game. Hope the Cubs are on the upside of the schwartz on this matchup.
Friday, 1:20p RH Aaron Cook (7-3 2.82) vs. Ted Lilly (5-4 5.23)
Lilly has been better in his last several starts than that ERA shows.
Saturday, 1:20p Ryan Dempster is pitching (6-2 2.56) but we don't know who he's going up against. However, Dempster has been gold at home so far.
Sunday, 1:20p, RH Ubaldo Jiminez (1-5 5.27) vs. Sean Gallagher (2-1 4.50)
Jiminez has struggled. Not a large body of work from Gallagher to go from, but he's got a nice lively fastball, and he's been fairly effective in his 2 wins. The loss inflated his ERA a touch.
I don't see much trouble for the Cubs to at bare minimum split this series. This is the time to play the Rockies four games, that is for sure.

Great time to get the Rockie. Maybe the Cub can score some runs this series.
They are playing good ball right now and everyone is contributing when called upon.

Good thing this is a depleated Rockies lineup. Marquis has been in and out of trouble all through the first 5 innings. He looks like someone who needs to get the hook early tonight.

I thought that was a dick move by Marquis. His runners were on base so he wanted to watch. Once Cotts gave up 2 of his runs he said...

"That's all I care about. There goes my chance at a win. I'm going back to the clubhouse."

That just rubbed me the wrong way. I'm sure it does his teammates as well. You got a 3-3 game Jason. Don't you want to watch it live? Go to the clubhouse once the inning is over.

Dick.

Marquis is a ass. Fucker has the lead in every start, and always blows it the following inning. Glad to see Cotts still sucks.

my prediction before the game was this would be a 8-7 affair, with the cub on the losing side...marquis LOVES giving up leads, and he LOVES giving up hits on 1-2 counts...

The Cub's should try to find a team that needs a healthy starter desperately, and is willing to give up a decent releif pitcher. I would unload Marquis for a middle relief pitcher that can help Marmol get a bit more rest. With Howry showing improvement, the situation may get a bit better. But they need someone to get some outs besides Howry, Marmol and Wood. Eyre has done a good job in limited duty, but he is basically a situational lefty. Weurtz has been bad far too often. He has been fortunate that guys like Marmol have gotten him out of several jams, where he had 2-3 guys on base that could have scored and inflated his ERA. As it is, his ERA is good, but it really doesn't reflect how mediocre he has been.

Lou must be itching to pull the trigger with Marquis. The guy blows. He can BARELY get through 5 innings anymore, and his ERA is still probably around 4 or 5. Leiber's not much better of a solution as a starter, but you gotta think Hendry has bailed on the Brian Roberts deal in order to find another starter. If this team wants to make it in the playoffs, Marquis can't be in the rotation.

I like that kid they sent down, I'm not really sure why Cotts is an upgrade. Cotts had a decent fastball today, but outside of his year w/ the Sox he hasn't really proved he can keep it up for a long stretch.

Ok, trade Marquis, I dont have a problem with that, but who is going to replace him? Lieber? No, I rather have him in the bullpen. Hill? I doubt he will be back this year, so right now they need Marquis unless there is someone I am forgetting. Also, dont say Sean Marshall, ick.

I would rather see Sean Marshall starting than Marquis. Plus, I have to think that they will get Hill straightened out within the next month. If not, I still prefer Marshall. Don't forget, Marquis has a demonstrated trend for pitching better the first half of the season. If this is his better half, God save the team he pitches for in the 2nd half.

With all the Rockie injuries, Reverend Watkins would be proud.....

The Cub don't have to get better, the other teams just get a little bit worse.

Nice, Lilly. Mind throwing a pitch that doesn't get hit 380ft.+?

Edmonds doing his best Soriano impression. Lilly doing his best Lilly impression. Hopefully the Cubs can start hitting the ball in the air. Where is Ramirez when the wind in blowing out, bench him tomorrow.

marquis is a 5th starter - if he can get 5+ innings and keep the cubs within shouting distance, thats good enough for me. every team has a 5th starter who sucks.

Wow. What a win. Santo's call of that double play made me feel a little dirty. Much moaning and oooh-ing.

Reminds me of when they came back from 8-0 against the Astros in August 1989. That game was electric.

Don't change it.

I've enjoyed funding the retirement of my father's generation. Last I read it was due to run out of money in 2035. Perfect.

As a Sox fan I had the game on in the background but didnt start paying attention till they cut it down to 9-6. As a baseball fan it was cool to see. As a sports radio fan, Im glad it came on a Friday so it might be diluted a bit by Monday and hopefully we wont hear a bunch of Team of Destiny crap from Harry then.
