The Cub's website, (if you go to probable pitchers)-states that an MRI was done on Carlos Zambrano's shoulder. It revealed that he has tendonitis in the shoulder. If the Cubs need to play the Astro game on Monday, it may well be Marshall, rather than Zambrano that pitches that game, even though it would be Zambrano's turn, as they have decided to shut him down for the remainder of the regular season. This helps further explain why Zambrano was not chosen to pitch game 1 in the NLDS. Even if he was 100%, Dempster deserves it. But this makes the decision a no-brainer.

Even if Z were 100%, why would you pitch him in a meaningless game on Monday?

His brain has some sort of 'itis' too.

I'd be nice if you read the scouting report throughly. Obviously the scouting report is outdated.

Quote:
Cubs: Zambrano has been sidelined because of some discomfort in his right shoulder. An MRI revealed tendinitis, and he was shut down. If he can't go, Sean Marshall will get the start. Zambrano last pitched Sept. 2 against the Astros and did not get a decision. The right-hander gave up three runs on five hits and three walks over five innings, his first start since getting an extra day because of a tired arm. Zambrano threw 86 pitches in the outing and the stadium radar gun did show that his fastball had some life to it. He is 4-0 against the Reds this year.

Perhaps letting him go the distance in getting the No-Hitter, was not such a great idea, after coming off the DL from the cortizone injection. But how do you take a guy out, thats throwing a no hitter?
