Obviously he is not going to keep up this pace at the major league level. But here is my question. Why not move him over to 3B for a week in the minors to see if he has any chance at playing the position. Could he be much worse than the Fontenot/Scales platoon over there until ARam gets back? They both suck defensively at 3rd as well and they arent providing the answer offensively. Maybe this would spark a lineup that has looked listless so far in St. Louis. The Padres and Pirates being on the schedule next should help the bats get going but this team needs to start examining other options at 3rd outside of Fontenot/Scales.

Cubs need to keep both Fox & Hoffpauir just in case the NL decides to implement the DH rule.

I know it sounds ridiculous to have Fox playing third, but the Cubs currently have an average-at-best defender at third who's hitting .200. I'd almost rather see if Fox can provide some offense and I'll put up with his defensive miscues.

Bring him up and dump lee. I am tired of watching his tired act. He is just collecting a check and doesnt seem to care much about anything other than showing up and clocking in.

Ever since the injury and his daughter's health problems he hasn't been the same. I guess I shouldnt say he doesn't care, but it doesn't seem like he is mentally there all the time. He reminds me alot of cerrano in major league 2 where, he just seems content with whatever happens. He doesn't have the edge anymore. I don't really dislike the guy at all, I just think its time to move on.

True. But he does seem to be slamming bats and helmets an awful lot more now, than he ever did.

Lee is never gonna put up those huge power numbers from 2005, but when the year is done, his 2009 numbers will be similar to his career stats. I'm more worried about Bradley picking up the pace.

Whether it was injuries or his Daughters health problems, he has not been the same since 2005, when he had that huge season-then got the huge contract. However, I do NOT believe that he does not care, just that he's not very good anymore. I would give Fox a chance to DH in the interleague games and have Hoffpauir at 1st . Put Ryan Freel at 3rd. Gotta shake things up, as the bats are quiet these days. Fontenot, Lee, Soto...all bad right now.

Nothing makes me sicker than hearing about a pro athletes family health issues as an excuse for poor play. I have family and health issues, if not for my job and the ability to get away for a few hours, not sure I could deal with it at all.
D Lee's kid was misdiagnosed and she is FINE! So please stop throwing that out as an issue.

A real issue is Dempsters child. An infant struggling day to day to live, now that could take your mind away from the game.

Before the season started, I backed Micah at 1st instead of Lee. The "experts" on this board mocked me. I know Lee is a good person and still an excellent glove man. The pope is a nice guy,also but I don't want to see him at 1st for the Cubs. D. Lee's problem might be a lack of bat speed. He might need to change his stance a bit and give up some power to make better contact. At 6'5,the bat comes down through the "Hit zone" a fraction of a second slower then
some one who is shorter. He might need to bend a little to get through that zone a little quicker. I like Derreck Lee and hope he recovers. What's good for Lee,is good for my Cubs!!
