I hope Randy Wells didn't jump a buggy out of town.

Harden goes on Cubs DL with back strain
By Paul Sullivan

SAN DIEGO- The Cubs placed Rich Harden on the 15-day disabled list with a back strain on Friday, and inserted Randy Wells into the rotation for Saturday's game.

Harden felt a twinge in his last outing last Sunday, and in a subsequent side session this week in St. Louis. With Harden's injury, the Cubs don't have to make any move with the bullpen to reactive Carlos Zambrano, who starts tonight against Jake Peavy.

Harden will be eligible to return during the Atlanta series, which begins June 2nd at Turner Field. It's his seventh stint on the disabled list since 2005.

Missing 1 start to ensure that he doesn't really screw himself up is smart. they said that they were going to skip Harden now and then during the season, to ensure that he gets extra days off when needed. Thats all this is. With 5 other pitchers going now, this is a good time to do this anyway, now that big Z is off the DL.

I'm sure it will retro back to the 18th, the day after he pitched last. That would put him back on the 2nd. Plus there is a day off in there.

It won't be a perfect science, but yea.

Rich Harden, on the 15-day DL with a back strain, has yet to start a throwing program.

Early indications are that he won't be ready to return when his 15 days are up. Manager Lou Piniella indicated Tuesday that lefty Sean Marshall is likely bullpen bound when Harden does make it back to the rotation.
