I don't know about you, but when I look at Bradley sometimes, I get these vietnam flashbacks of the first half version of Jacque Jones. Case in point was about a week or two ago when the Cubs were playing I believe the Cardinals and Bradley was on first. The hit and run was in play and a lazy fly ball was hit to left. I don't know what Bradley was doing but he easily gets doubled up at first. As Fox was showing the replays Bradley was past second base. A smart base runner watches for the contact and then tracks the ball once it is hit. What is Bradley doing to the point that he actually rounds second base. Anyone could of seen that the catch was going to be made. He should of been more alert and start retreating back to first a little sooner. It really pissed me off as he half-assed ran back to first and then looks like he tried to spike Puljos on top of that as if it was neccessary.

I don't know...what do you guys think? Am I off base here?

I get the feeling that Bradley is ready now, to be major contributor to the team, on a regular basis. I believe he was pressing early in the season. But now you will see the "real" Milton Bradley. That being, a guy who hits very well, and who will probably get hurt again, before the year is over. As a lil bonus, you MAY get to see him go ballistic once more. Hey, I called for Ibanez or Abreau. I think Bradley is a very good offensive player, but he is a bit unbalanced and gets hurt too often.

Singing Bradley was a huge mistake. The Cubs should have signed Adam Dunn...Check out his numbers! Jim Hendrey is overthinking and overmanging the Cubs roster.
Would you rather have Derosa & Edmunds, or Bradley & Miles???

I don't think anyone expected Dunn to have as hot of a start as he has this year. What are the salary comparisons b/w Dunn and Bradley? As far as who the Cubs should of signed, Dunn had an OPS of .898 last year compared to Bradley's .999. He was a switch hitter and can play all outfield positions, if need be. Whereas, Adam was less versatile hitting and fielding. Adams stikeout ratio didn't fit the Cubs philosophy of taking pitches and putting balls in play (at least that is what they are striving for) I just hope that we begin to see the second half of Jones appear. My fear is that he continues to struggle to the poing where the Cub fans begin to turn on him and he shuts down for the season. There is no doubt that he is a major piece to the puzzle of a World Series bid this year.

Bradley is a pain in the ass...and Dunn hits the hell out of the baseball in Wrigley Field. To me it was a no brainer to sign Dunn and forget about Bradley.

I would rather have Edmonds and DeRosa, but I would never have gone after Dunn, unless the NL adopted the DH. I HATE Aaron Miles. Thats a big part of it. I would have loved to have had Ibanez or Abreau, rather than Bradley (as I stated before any were signed). I was surprised that nobody picked Edmonds up. He did a nice job with the Cubs last year.

I've had this problem in that I keep referring to him as Rondell White ... not joking ... and I don't mean to ... might mean something (other than I'm retahded).

Factually incorrect about Edmonds.
In just 250 AB's last year with the Cubs, he had a .256 average, with 17 doubles, 2 triples and 19 homers, with 49 RBI. Thats in just 250 at bats. Most players who are starters, get between 500-600 AB's. which would mean numbers like 40 homers and 100 RBI. Not bad at all. Miles has ZERO power, so to compare them is just silly.

I was just in my car for lunch and believe it or not, I am hearing Murph mention how smart of a player Bradley was. He must have not seen the same game I saw.

I also would argue that Derosa is not better than Bradley. The track record speaks for itself. DeRosa's numbers last year were off his average norms.

I think Bradley is the better hitter between the two-no doubt in my mind. But between DeRosa'e defensive versatility and Bradleys propesity for stints on the DL, I think DeRosa may be the more Valuable player.

To think that Edmonds at his age would have held up long enough to get 500 to 600 ab's and hit 40 homers and 100 rbi's is the ridiculous thought. He was fading down the stretch last year and he only got the aforementioned 250 ab's.

And Edmunds hit in the clutch. He hit some big HR's wo win a coupe of games. The Cubs could use his left handed bat off the bench.

Bradley and Miles. Are you, JonCurk, suggesting that Derosa & Edmunds would be better for this team? Edmunds could collapse from old age at any point, and Derosa makes a nice fill in and a great guy to have on the bench, but not the best guy to have as a starter any given place.

The fact remains, that Edmonds showed good power (home runs per at bat) and Miles has no power at all. To compare them as hitters is ridiculous.

Murph has been on the Bradley bandwagon since day 1. The weird thing is if this had been any other player Murph would have been all over him already. But since he was in favor of this deal, he's gone out of his way to defend him. Murph's take on the umpire conspiracy claimed by Bradley?: It's absolute genius, now Bradley won't be called out on strikes the rest of the year. It's making Murph look even more foolish, if that's even possible.

However, it should be noted that what with my ass being the size of Rhode Island, I am my own mult IRL.

The Cubs should sign Jim Edmunds righ now. They could have use him as a pinth hitter last night in the ninth inning.

Go back to the entire post earlier in this thread and you will see that I predicted he would have more meltdowns and get hurt again and that I also stated I never wanted the guy. But if you look at his batting average since that post, it has been right on the money. So everything about the post is accurate and I stand by every word. I wanted Ibanez or Abreau and DID NOT want Bradley, but I did believe that while he would be injured and suffer meltdowns that would be a distraction, that he would hit more like the guy he had been in the past, which he did.

You take a few words out of a post to try to discredit the posting, but when read entirely, it turns out to be a very accurate assessment.

In other predictions, the sun is predicted to rise in the East tomorrow, and Golic will be the victim of more fat jokes.

When they signed Bradley, Hendry was assuring people that he had had very positive meetings with Bradley and he was convinced he was a good guy and a good teammate that would be a positive figure in the clubhouse. A leader, as well. I didn't buy into that load of crap and said so. If you think that I was right, fine.

In other predictions-Mike (Darkside) will be charged with a DUI in the next year and/or theft.....again.
