For those who care...this is my 1K post and rather than attemp to make some grand (pun intended) statement...I am excited about asking a legitimate (IMO) sports related question, and seeking feedback from board users. I do use this forum as a resource for information and of course entertainment. So thank you all for that!
Cubs Ownership Update:
http://www.chicagonow.com/blogs/david-kaplan-chicago-sports/2009/07/ricketts-deal-to-be-done-soon.htmlQuestion:
Regarding operations of the team. If this agreement is in place within the next 2 weeks, but the deal is not approved until late August.....Does the new ownership have "control" over the team in the interum? Can they approve trades? deals? taking on of salary? etc.... I realize the legalities involved and offical transferring of ownership with MLB approval, but behind the scenes...do the handcuffs come off and can they approve deals? There is also the Tribune Co. & the bankruptcy delio too.
Go Cubs. Happy July 4th!
