Fuld and Hart headed to Iowa. Patton on the DL with a made up injury.

No complaints at all.

I am totally ok with all of this....my only question would be what is the level of scrutiny that goes on for putting one of these rule 5 players onto the DL in order to protect him from going back to his original team? Is that something they would look into? Can we just put him on the shelf for the rest of the year? :D

The only mild thing I can come up with is keeping Hart up and sending Samardzija down to work on being a starter. But that's really nit picky and both will work coming out of the bullpen for the rest of this year.

The Cubs and logical roster moves makes me uncomfortable.

I would of rather released Patton, then make up an injury. The other move would of been sending Fontenot down, because he sucks.

So I'm at my buddy Mike North's place and I thought I would google the rule 5 requirements. Apparently Patton has to be active for 90 days in his first season as rule 5 pick, which I think he has. If he hasn't, then the difference of days would have to be made up in the following season.

So if Patton was active for 80 days in 2009, he would have to be eligible for 10 days in the 2010 campaign. It wouldn't be a bad idea to put Patton on the 60-day DL and then activate him in September.

Actually, over the past 6 games he's hitting much better.
