I know everyone here loves it when I go too far so here we go...

I was shocked yesterday when I saw that the Cubs 2 main offensive
weapons could not play 2 games in one day.Hey Lee, If your neck spasms
were OK for game 2,then they were OK for game 1! ARAM,you have a long history
of low pain threshold,so I'm not as shocked. Of course the Cubs won game 1,so
no issue. Hoff & Fox hit the ball and hit it well. That's not the point,if these 2
lazy,non-dedicated losers cared about the Cub's faith, they would have insisted Lou
play them both games. Their decision not to,tells me all I need to know about them!

Ok,am I offbase with this?

Lee never has and never will provide any leadership at all. He has no potential for leadership.
Ramirez gets a pass to me. He's still hurt man. You can see it in how he swings and fields. it's not good, he's not ready to be out there. They're pushing he and he's not ready. Problem is Hendry (for not getting Phil Nevin to replace Ramirez  ).

Darkside,
I agree with you to a point on ARAM BUT that was a big game.
The good ones figure out a way to play hurt. If they were playing
a game out of the division, maybe it would not look as bad. It
was important to win 2 games, yesterday.

easy to say when your an armchair manager. All the other everyday players that need to step up and not many have done so this season. Aramis is still hurt and Lee's been having these lingering injuries for a few seasons now. Neck spasms are alot more bothersome than they sound and shoulders aren't usually the same after a dislocation.

Needing a cortizone shot means it's not mental weakness dude.
He's hurt. It's not about pain. It's about strength and flexibility. It's about range of motion. Not necesserally about pain.

This situation must be a meatball crossroads. Do you complain that your team's high priced talent is sitting out to nurse lingering injuries, or do you campaign for a combination of Micah Hoffpauir and Jake Fox in your infield? I see it took you a full day to make your decision, you must have put a great deal of thought into it.

Good points.
The fans always refer to Lee as a leader. You don't hear the players say it and you don't hear Lee claim that title.
Saying Ramirez is soft is totally out of line.

The best part of this...they won the game sans Lee.

Ernie would have wanted to play 2. Not playoff games. None of those for Mr. Cub...but a doubleheader in july sounds great.

Ernie, Billy, Santo, Fergie...All Leaders...All did some great Leading in 1969

I apologize for not being in front of a computer 24x7. Good point though. If I was the new owner,I'd cut Soriano & platoon Hof/Fox with Fuld as def. replacement. Soriano is a leech sucking the blood out of this team. Can't hit,Can't field,Can't run=CUT HIM!!

Pasta...I got ya. I understand your point of view. I just disagree with it.

But I absolutely LOVE that you end things with Period spelled out and then an exclamation point...Why not just write Period Exclamation Point...It would be cooler.

I love at least talking like "Da Coach",though I can never match
his glory. You should have seen me coaching youth soccer & basketball!
I was a man molded in "Da Coach's" image. Problem is every other dad/coach
was thinking the same thing.

pennant race? ho boy...your next course of action should be to look down at your right hand (no, not in that way), and fold it over. Pull the hand forward to your face, and clasp it over your forehead for a while.

Cortizone is to reduce inflamation, which causes the impinged nerves in the injured area to no longer be irritated, thus relieving pain. Ramirez is clearly not real close to 100%.To play him at all on Sunday, may have set him back, as he looked like he tweaked that shoulder a bit. A guy that is just coming back, (as he was) from a significant injury, should not be asked to play both games. The risk is too high/ the reward not great enough. Lee's injury is one that also could have more easily been aggravated by playing both games as well and with a very capable back-up, it was smart to play Hoffpauir. It protects Lee from further injury and allows Hoffpauir 4 at bats that day, which will help him to stay sharper than had he just gotten a single at bat, as he often does in a pinch hitting role. I had no problem at all with the way Lou chose the lineup. In fact, I hope he decides to rest Lee more (as he said he would be doing at leat once a week, in spring training) as I believe it would be better for everyone and keep Lee more rested and more productive, as well as less likely to have injuries, while keeping Hoffpauir sharper.

I can see ARAM,but not both, same game. I think they both should have played, but that's just me. Old School! Active? On the roster? 12-16 mil a year? Get your ass in the game! Let's see if ARAM plays with his shoulder after his 1st HR,like he rotates it when he whiffs! At least, play each guy in one game (but NOT the same game).

I get where you're coming from jimmy but consider the risk to your $12-16 million investment if they get even more injured. Sure you miss them for this one game but if ARAM or lee get more injured you miss them in September, or next spring and that's the part of the equation you're not considering. There is a large financial investment in these boys and you don't play reckelssly with large investments.

Darkside,That is a great point I did not consider.
I guess I'm a " Win today,screw tomorrow" kind of guy.
I've been following The CUBS since 1967,I'm old & tired.
This year,my baseball game watching has dropped considerably.
