Hear me out! I know how wild Marmol has been, but I also know how bad Gregg has been. IN reality I want to see Guzman in the role, but if Lou and Larry (Great old time bar name) feel they need to give Marmol his chance OK , do it now.

The reason I want Marmol is because if you look back into last season, when Marmol was rolling some of the best stats of any reliever ever, they went down to Houston and something really bad clicked in Marmols head. he walked 2 guys and hit 2 guys all in the same 4 batter stretch.

So maybe the guy is a little nuts, closers are, lets see what happens when he gets the job. Maybe something crazy happens! Crazy good!

Why not put Marmol in? What might he do? Blow some saves? We've already got that.

I agree. The job should've been Marmol's in the first place. Marmol as the closer should also keep Lou from sending him out there 4 or 5 days in a row.

Marmol should have been the closer from the get go...if only to limit his innings.

Marmol should be the closer, guzman in the 8th, gregg and marshall in the seventh...not sure how grabow fits in yet.

Nothing pisses me off more in sports when a change is not made for lack of faith in the backup, when the guy playing just doesn't get the job done!!!!!!!! Sometimes you have nothing to lose, but coaches still resist change!

im willing to try anyone else at this point. its not like gregg is just in a slump. he has shown an inability to get anyone out all season. even when he doesnt blow the game hes bound to runners in scoring position. you cant be in playoff contention with a closer that cant close

I think to say that Gregg hasn't gotten people out all season employs just a smidge of hyperbole.

I recently read on this board that Bobby Jenks has been literally pitching on a tight rope since the break.

Both of these statements seem unlikely.

Until this weekend, Gregg has been very consistent the last 2 months. He had a bad start to the season, and a bad last 2 days. Im not a big Gregg fan, but I think you might be exaggerating just a bit.

That was essentially what I should have said ... that's what I get for being on the phone with a client while trying to post!

If I have to see a blown save I'd prefer it be by a home run as opposed to a walk, WP or HBP.

Once again, while statistically Gregg may have got some saves over the last 10 save run, many of those saves involved really well hit balls. As in warning track and line drive outs. I am not talking lazy fly balls, I am talking hit hard and just missed getting out. While he gets the "S", looking back at his stats in foolish and just fooling ourselves.
