3 game set that is sure to bring NSJ out of the woodwork.....

Harang vs. Wells
Cueto vs. Lilly
Owings vs. Hart

With the Cardinals getting Holliday and improving the Cubs cannot afford to lose series at home to bad teams. Need to take 2 out of 3

Looks like its going to be Hart....I am going to that game.....Not really excited about a Cueto vs. Hart matchup. Not sure who is going to pitch Sunday.

Any game the Reds win, I hope Cordero gets the save.

Fantasy!

Good win today. Ramirez swinging the bat good and the bullpen looking good besides Gregg. Hopefully Hart steps up tomorrow.

Ramirez sure makes a difference in that lineup. Nice to see a couple of 2 out hits to score runs for a change too. But Soriano and Hoffpauir both disappointed when they failed to score men from 3rd with less than 2 outs. Gotta be better in those situations. Fukadome seems to be swinging better again too. I would love to see that continue.

The end result is that they've won 8 of their last 11. No apologies for whom they've played, no excuses for the losses. They have to keep winning and all else doesn't matter. Simple. I predicted that they wouldn't make the playoffs this year and I may well be right. I'd love to be wrong. Wouldn't be the first time.
Just keep playing who is on the schedule and keep winning. Keep proving me wrong.

Lee comes out in the 8th again because of neck spasms. This is starting to become a joke. This guy must not be able to take any pain.

If there is a position they can afford an injury to, it's first base. Lee has hit very well for the past 2 months., however, with Hoffpauir and Fox ready to step in, they should be fine if Lee needs a couple days off. Micah Owings is going in the finale of this series for the Reds and while an outstanding hitting pitcher, is not going to be mentioned in Cy Young award nominations. It would be nice to get another sweep here. I think the Cubs are now 11 games over .500 at home on the season, so it has truely been the "friendly confines". The Reds seem like a team that has given up on the 2009 season, after starting out well.

two edgy 9ths against a bad team.

yeah this team is really going places...

meanwhile, look at those astros...this is really getting ridiculously tiresome. they suck in the first half, they come to life and make a run in the second half. what is this the 5th year in a row they've done this?

they won't because they're not elite.

they rarely rise to the occasion, unless it's the cardinals for some reason.

Jake Fox batting clean up today. Not a big fan, but we will see. I still think he is a minor leaguer who only hits fastballs.

Add that the Reds look good early and fade and the Pirates decide to trade a couple of their best players every year to "rebuild", the NL Central seems to have the same storyline every year.

Hopefully the regular season ends the same way it has the last two years.

He sure is. The bribes we pay must also be working. He was happy to do our evil bidding. Wait till he umps the next Sox game, you'll really see what we told him to do! <cue conspiratorial music and eerie laugh>

Even you can't be that stupid and stubborn to admit that while that call had little bearing on the outcome of the game, it was a terrible call.

Frank, you really are a meathead.
I was making fun of you for your stupid remark. Laz Diaz is no more a Cubs fan than you are. Did he make a mistake? Yup. Did it directly affect the game. Yup. Did the Cubs catch a break? Yup. Did the Cubs win a game they shouldn't have? Maybe.

Now that you've gotten your scalp and counted coup, think about this, Sox warrior.

Do most experts agree that these sort of breaks even out over the course of a season? In other words, have the Cubs gotten screwed this season, or perhaps they'll get screwed later in the season and it will even out?
You can always hope that the screwing will happen in the makeup game and the Sox win. Won't that be boffo rubout material for you.

Fuck off Frank. Watch your own team and see what they do.

I'm amazed that you consistently post the most longwinded, asinine replies to almost every one of my posts in the baseball sections.

I thought the 3-2 pitch that Encarnacion took in the eighth innng for ball 4 was a strike, which led to the Reds threatening and Encarnacion being called out at home. So maybe things evened out.

It certainly was a better pitch than the strike called to Bradley in the previous inning which instead of resulting in a walk and bases loaded and no outs led to Bradley striking out.

Cubs section 90% of the time. I leave your masturbatory fantasies alone in the Sox section for the most part. I even agree with you from time to time Frank.
It's just here in the Cubs section, where you take great delight in shitting on all things Cubs, that I really don't care for what you have to offer. You enjoy the perceived misery of others when the Cubs screw up and you can't stand it when they have success. They're not the Sox rivals Frank. You have all the bragging rights you could ever need or want.
That ain't enough, is it?
You still have to stomp on anything blue and white and baseball related. Enjoy the Sox Frank. You have a WS title and a perfect game. That SHOULD be enough for you to just get over your hatred of all things Cubs.
Instead, you have to live up, or down to, the dumbest aspect of some Sox fans. Light your bag of shit, ring the bell and run off giggling.
You are the consumate, insecure tool.

You want short? Here's the Readers' Digest version for you.

Fuck off.

I think Coztansa has me on his ignore list. I respect what his Sox team did in 2005,but that doesn't mean I have to like it. We are now in 2009, his Sox team is competing BUT just like the Cubs, they might have issues against the better teams. The goal is to reach the playoffs, then all bets are off. It might be better if the Cubs enter the playoffs as the darkhorse. I still think Bradley will come around in the 2nd half.
