So far so good, Wells with another great start! I sure hope he can go the full 9.

Boy, has he been a Godsend. The guy gets far too little press. He doesn't throw 95 and his stuff isn't electric. But he seems to locate real well, has great poise and knows how to pitch!! He really has to be thrown into the Rookie of the Year discussion.

Marmol wasn't great, but he didn't pull a Gregg and give it away either. Good to get back on track.

Tomorrows game has Gorzelany facing Cueto. Cueto has been getting lit up in his past few starts, so one might hope that trend continues. Gorzelany is making his Cubs debut, fresh from AAA ball, where he had been pitching in the Pirate organization.Take the over....

Randy Wells has to be in the top 3 for rookie of the year. his era is leading all rookies and if he qualified for league leaders in the nl he would be 6th. not to mention the kid should really be closer to a 12-2 record instead of the 8-4. you can thank the cubs bullpen and horrible offense when he first came up for that.

I took the over, not looking good so far. 1 run through 5 innings.

Gorzelanny looks great tonight. If he can pitch like this, the trade will be a huge success.

Hold your judgement until he pitches against someone other than an AAA team.

Always have been a Gorzelanny fan. I'm sure being out of the hell hole that is Pittsburgh will help him mentally. I figure he will start to get back to where he was a few years ago.

Harden against Lehr in the next one. Harden has been pretty strong in his starts since the All-Star break. Lehr has 1 start this year, going just 5 innings and giving up 3 runs. His ERA on the season and in his career, is over 5. I like the match-up.

I think too much is made of the bullpen giving up runs when they have a 5+ run lead. At that point you are to throw strikes and challenge hitters. I'd be far more concerned if he'd walked three guys and gave up 0 runs.

Well Miles is still bad, and Soriano is as dumb as Pods on the bases.

Prior to Soriano getting picked off in a 3 run game, Brenly was extolling the virtues of players that have an innate feel for the game and make good baseball decisions, as opposed to those with all the physical abilities but are baseball retarded.
Irony, wow...

Not sure if it was the pitcher being someone they had never seen, or the team not getting up for this game, but they just didn't look real good.Taking 2 of 3 is nice, but a better effort on getaway day, would have been better.

the cubs seem to historically have a hard time with pitchers that are just making their first couple starts of their careers

Thats true for the Whit Sox too, as well as probably a lot of teams. The first time around, the pitcher has a real advantage. But coming into the game with an ERA over 5, it doesn't seem like he had been mystifying other teams, before last night. Bottom line, is the Cubs got 2 0f 3, on the road, to take the series. Not too shabby.
