Bradley's statement:

"I chose Chicago as a free agent because I wanted to be part of finally bringing a championship to the Cubs' fans. I expected to have a great season and I am deeply disappointed by my performance and the team's struggles. I played every game with everything that I had and wanted to desperately win. My frustration and disappointment boiled over and I said and did certain things that I regret. In hindsight, I wish that I handled certain things differently and I apologize for those things that did not work out for the better.

"The air has been cleared and we all want to move on and look forward to better days."

According to sources, Bradley will not file a grievance through the players' union to contest the suspension.

Yeah and Hendry also said that we'll "worry about next year after this season is over" which means more Bradley next year.

So exactly what did he do that was so terrible? He used words to make people angry?
Big deal! If he comes back,it would not be the worst thing. I can't see what all the fuss is. You know there are media guys just surrounding his locker looking for any kind of "off the wall" shit, then talk radio crucifies him. I say leave him be. If they dump him-ok,if not, that's ok,too!

I really doubt that. I believe one way or another, he's playing elsewhere in 2010.

NO ONE IS GOING TO TAKE MILTON BRADLEY WITH THAT CONTRACT!!!!!

Sorry? You and your mom have allegedly accused that teachers, parents and 3 YEAR OLD KIDS are callling your three year old kid the n-word? Really? I hope for his sake that he is actually telling the truth because to make that type of accusation should definitely be liable if not bordering on a hate crime.

And dont give me that complete bullshit about going hard every day. Three games into the season, you sprained your ankle when you tripped over first base. Remember that one? It was because he had slowed up going to first even though the right fielder had to make a spectacular diving catch to get the out.

This "threat" to become a Sox Fan reminds me of some dumb ass lifer criminals sitting in the Cook County Jail threatening suicide.....the usual response is TALK IS CHEAP.....

If you "threatened" to become a Cardinals Fan, you would be taken much more seriously.

Becoming a Cardinals Fan is a major step up.....becoming a Sox Fan is like switching cells in the jail.

Don't you think the Hendry contrived Bradley apology was a preface to his reintroduction next year? Why, if he was sure to be gone, would he make that apology? I think that Hendry won't release him and his $21 million and NO ONE is negotiating to trade for him.

Its a crock that he is getting paid for this suspension. What a great message Hendry is sending; "Hey, go ahead and act like a dick, lose track of the outs in an inning, underachieve, alienate your teamates, coaches, and front office staff, and you'll get suspended but still get your paychecks!"

No, I think one would find that it's probably the only thing keeping the MLBPA from pitching a bitch in proxy for Miltie (regardless of whether he wants to or not) ... it's essentially a compromise, meaning nobody is really happy. Capt. Assbag is banished, but he still costs the club money - so everybody loses; it's the Cubs' way.

Who gives a shit? When the union says, "So why shouldn't Milt be paid?", the Cubs can fire back with exhibit A, B, C, F, K, M, Q, and so on.

Yeah .... no.

Whatever the hell your letters are supposed to represent doesn't in any way approach a contract breach on his part. It's all good and well to pretend it's the mid-50s and his being an egregious cock-stain is reason enough to expel him from the Americas, but reality works differently.

Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't realize that you have read his entire contract and know for a FACT there is nothing in there that prevents him from bashing the orgainzation publically.

Correct. And you're not getting anything of value in return. I don't think he'll be traded either. My concern is Ricketts won't pull the trigger and buy out that contract.

First, I suppose that you have read his contract? Odd indeed for one to make note of a deficiency (e.g., not being intimately familiar with the specific contract language) when the accuser suffers from that same deficiency.

Second, if bashing a team - even as he has - was grounds for dismissal, the league would have had to have contracted to 12 teams to account for all the mouthy assholes.

Look, I'm not saying he's a good person or player, because I don't think he's either. I'm just saying that it should be plainly obvious to all but the most casual observer (which I think you're far greater than, btw) that one cannot reasonably believe that his absolutely rancid and horrid remarks are ultimately justifiable cause, contractually speaking, for him to be excised from a Major League Baseball team, particularly without financial compensation.

Don Tiny Is right here

The 2 outs thing
The racism
The hoping the game will end in 9

None of it could be written into a contract.

Since he didn't name anyone specifically, how does anyone sue him for the statements?

The Cubs will have to eat a large part of the contract, but he's gone.

I think it was his agent (damage control), not Hendry, that drew up the script for the apology. I do believe that the Cubs will be on the hook for a lot of the money owed, but I also believe that teams looking for a DH, may be intrigued by the possibility of getting the A.L. OBP and OBPS leader in 2008 on their team for say 2 million a season, with the Cubs paying the rest. We shall see.

Per Tampa Paper
Quote:
Pat Burrell was a bust at DH, and probably needs to return to the National League.

In a perfect world, the Rays upgrade at catcher or DH without hurting themselves elsewhere. How do you do that? Finding the right match. For instance, the Rays were interested in Milton Bradley last off-season before he signed with the Cubs.

Bradley had a tumultuous season in Chicago — as he has elsewhere — and will probably be traded. If the Rays convince the Cubs that Burrell could excel by returning to the NL in the walk year of his contract, they might have a willing partner. Their 2010 salaries are a wash, but the Rays will have to figure out a way to negate Bradley's $12 million salary in 2011.

Is it likely? Probably not, but that's the sort of deal the Rays will probably be seeking.
