pizza_Place: I'm a Gelsosomo's guy.
My dad is suffering from emphysema - he can still get around ok, but in short distances.

I have been kicking around the idea for a year or so of taking him to Cubs fantasy camp in either Arizona or Florida - I understand that there are at least 2 now?

My question is this - I know that these camps tout themselves as for "all ages and skill levels" but are they really - in other words, given my dads limited lung capacity, would he be ostracized from the group or made to feel less a "team" member than the other guys there? I know he can still hit the ball and hit it well but I know he can't get around the bases anymore.

Have any of you gone or do you know of anyone that has gone and how was yours or their experience?

Thanks Guys,

DD

It seems to me that you should call the camp and ask them directly.

I went three years ago and one of my friends goes every year. yes, your dad would not enjoy it. 3-4 days of early spring training would probably more enjoyable.

I am not going to say it is GREAT baseball, but guys do try as hard as they can. You got mostly 50+ guys who you know could play back in the day.

We went on a bachelor party. One guys dad sprang for 5 of us to join his son out there. Yes, we were the best players out there, but thats like saying we won the AL Central divsion makes us good.

Thanks Bigfan - that's exactly what I needed to know. My dad is a huge Cubs fan and alot of the players that go there are his old favorites, but spring training is probably a better (and more economical) call given this consideration.

Appreciate it!
